Comodo Firewall Wishlist v5[Closed]

I want four different buttons in the pop-up instead of that “Remember…” checkbox

  • Allow (once)
  • Allow always
  • Block (once)
  • Block always
So every decision I make only costs one klick which keeps the pop-up so inobtrusive as possible. Average Joe doesn’t want to click a single time more than needed and in this case I don’t want to do that either. :THNK

Good idea. I kinda like that myself.

There are allow rules and deny rules. How about a no-op rule? That could be used as a way to have a no-op&log and get a full packet trace in the connection log. As a network rule 0, a no-op rule could be selectively used to log traffic, which could help a lot in trying to figure out what’s going on.

I am sorry for not reading 21 pages, but in case it hasn’t been suggested (I think most likely it has), I’d like to see an export/import settings option.
That would be god send for fresh windows installations and even for quick and easy deployment to several PCs.

The registry trick for 2.x I guess is fine, but I think an “official” file export/import option would come in handy.

You are correct, sir. It has been mentioned (1 or 1000 times… ) and Comodo has responded. v3 has a complete management module, where you can actually use multiple configs (laptop, desktop, roaming, etc) that will import that specified rule-set.

Thanks LM.
Yes, I noticed that after messing around for longer with 3.x. I know anyway so far it is pointless as likely RCx and Gold won’t accept exports from this latest beta (or so I fear) but anyway will be a joy to see in the final version.

Not sure if this has been recommended or requested.
It would be nice to be able to specify which network adapter the network control rules apply to if you have a mutil-homed system. eth0, eth1, eth2, etc

Is it possible to have the IP address resolved into a domain name (on request with a button)? It does not tell me much if svchost.exe called by services.exe wants to connect to xx.xx.xx.xx. (Or was it the other way round?) Now you have to trust applications like Firefox to not harm when they connect invisibly to somewhere into the web. When I get a name I better can judge if some malware has passed the lines of defense.

Love Comodo

have a password user interface

Introduced in the beta version of CFP 3

Ewen

Equal to the DOS Lockdown thing how about package send and shutsdown Attackers Computer? while in Lockdown?

Not sure if that’s a good idea… what if the attacker IP is a zombie/bot net system with an innocent, unsuspecting, user on the other end.

Just a little reminder in the install dialog alongside the ‘uninstall other firewalls’ would be good.
“Disable Anti-Virus before installation”.
I lost several icons in my system tray because I didn’t think to do this on first installation.

solve:
Skip parent check BUG:
mostly happen with Internet browsers (FF, IE, …), if you set the rule to Skip parent check it sometimes “ignore” it! there are pointed some reasons https://forums.comodo.com/help/keeps_popping_up_for_firefox-t13235.0.html, maybe something with Component monitor
==> i don’t want to be disturbed by PopUPs for application for which i set the rule to Skip parent check and already aproved it

adds:
more settings for advanced users in security part and also in GUI appearance (not skin)
multiple selection in Application & Component monitor etc.

Activity → Connections
speed of data transfer for an application
aviability to cancel applications connection
aviability to kill selected application

make some parts of GUI resizeble (Activity → Logs → Details)
more statistics of trafic

This has been said tons of times, but I don’t know whether it’s been said in this topic and it’s quite important for the user-friendliness.

OLE automation monitoring is a very nice feature, it blocks an outbound path that other FWs would leave open. But right now CFP asks about blocking the “hijacked” app, not the “hijacking” one. I guess that’s the easiest way and it makes sense software-wise.

But it would be so much better that you could deny (and remember) the “hijacking” app instead of the “hijacked” one. Please notice that I don’t know how hard to code is this (it has to be possible), but it would be a revolutionary improvement for the user and it would make CFP lots more secure and silent.

Continue to work on Windows 2000 please.

Many thanks

Game mode !!!

It would be great to see option to disable HIPS thing during install time.
It’s extremelly annoying to deal with trilions of popups before yaou can even disable this annoying thing.

I second it. An option to even not installing the HIPS module, rather than just disabling it.

I don’t know if this has been asked for, already exists, or if it is even possible, but here goes my attempt for the wishlist. Since I will forget to do it myself, I was wondering if while running a certain program you could have a certain set of rules applied. When the program terminates then comodo would return to a different set of rules(lets say the default rules).
