Hi Guys,
Here i am mentioing as who all have been sent files for translation per language. As i have got request per language from more than one users so i have selected one as translator and others as reviewer.
The next step will be to get help files translated once we have gui text translation done.

CPF_Images_Text.zip is the file containing text which appears on images used in Comodo Firewall. For all the translated text, length MUST be less than or equal to english text length.

As per 30th Oct, 2006 deadline we have got translations done in 11 languages against which ‘Done’ is mentioned in above list. We have made an internal review of these translations in last 7 days and have found that certain guidelines have been missed in few translations.
Tomorrow we are going to update the translator utility which will have a button “Review” on it, clicking on that will show translations which didn’t follow guidelines and utility is also updated so that now onwards guidelines will be enforced when you translate a new string, we should have done it earlier but …
In addition to that testing has found 55 strings which were not translated b’caz they were not part of the files given to translators, so we are going to add these strings and pass on files to respective translators through forum.
We will be going in for BETA with the 11 languages against which it is mentioned Done, help file is not a must, some translators are on it, something nice to have but they can always be replaced through updater when done, so not a blocking issue.

As promised y’day, we will not be able to supply updated utility and translated files with new strings today but tomorrow definetly we will send to translators.

I have enclosed files from 10 languages after our internal review. We have updated translation utility also.
Following things need to be done:

  1. For every translated file, after opening it , you need to press ‘Review’ button which will display any error under last column named “Errors if any, after clicking ‘Review’ button”. These errors would be self explanatory, like missing of %s,%d,\b1 etc in translation. So these need to be fixed, now onwards whenever translation is done, this tool will automatically validate against guidelines.

  2. There are 18 new strings added in ‘fwconfig_Master.txt’, 67 new strings added in ‘CPF_Master.txt’ and 6 new strings added in ‘CPF_Images_Text.txt’. So these need to be translated.

As there are not many strings to be translated and review will not generate too many errors, i am requesting all the translators to please send it to me by 13th Nov, 2006.

I have enclosed latest translation files.
There should be maximum per file following new strings:
CPF_Images_Text_French.txt : 1 new entry
CPF_Master_French.txt : 24 new entries
cpfsubmit_Master_French.txt : 1 new entries
cpfupdate_Master_French.txt : 2 new entries
crashrep_Master_French.txt : 0 new entry
fwconfig_Master_French.txt : 6 new entries

I request all the translators to please update these files for above changes so that we can bring out RC version with all the languages on 9th Jan, 2007. As we are planning release version for 11th Jan we must get this done.
Please try that i can get these files by 8th Jan, 2007.

Hi Umesh!

I have a problem with Translation Utility. Once I translated part of the file I closed CFTU and wanted to continue the work later, but CFTU won’t open it again. It only opens “clean”, newly extracted and not translated file. The one partly done won’t be opened. Tried x-times and no effect.

This have to be fixed, becasue I can’t continue my work :frowning:

VaMPiRiC_CRoW: That’s what I remember as well. I think Egemen may have confused Brazilian Portuguese with Continental Portuguese. (Sem escutar o sotaque, isso acontece… :slight_smile: ) I also think we need him to clarify whether Tech or Cucamonga will be doing the Brazilian Portuguese translation.

Hi. I must clarify that I’m doing the Spanish Latin american Translation, so in the list a Spain Spanish is missing.

Spanish speakers know that Spanish LA and Spanish from Spain are different, so just take not on that.

cpfsubmit_Master.txt translation in Italian has been uploaded here https://forums.comodo.com/index.php/topic,2629.msg24236.html#msg24236 and is waiting to be reviewed.

Yes, the translation utility doesn’t work, the translation files are in UNICODE, but the utility saves them in system codepage and mangls the separator char (ñ), so after saving, it cannot open it again.

Nice tool, umesh!

and works for me, I can open and reopen as often as I want.

I do not know if the order in the file itself is important but if it is, do not make the same mistake I made on the first file. I sorted the english text by its length, then after translating and closing the file, the order was saved to my sorting and no way to get the original order back.

So as a tip (if internal order in the file is important), do not sort them in CPFTranslationUtil. :wink:

Hi,
The order you saved last is maintained when you open it again. So that should not be a problem.
I have requested guys having problems in re-opening file to send to me the files which could not be opened. We can look into that.

So once we get the files with issue, we can debug to see where the problem occurs.

Hi we have fixed the utility for the issue observed by Khagaroth and RakuPL
I have enclosed the utility in my first post in this topic, so anybody facing same issue with old utility please use this one. Any reviewer can also use the utility for opening translated files.

Hi all.
Right now, I’m recovering from a cancer surgery. I think it’ll be difficult to
have that much spare time to work with Brazilian Portuguese translation.
What about asking the other reviewers to start it from scratch?
Sorry but life is not easy right now to me.
If you can wait some days, I can give a hand on translation of course, just that
I can’t be in a hurry to do it.
