I’m pretty sure the OP wants the ports to forward on His router.
Yup that’s exactly what I want to do. One of my friends shows as “direct” where as I’m seen as “relayed”. I want to be able to make myself “direct” as well which I’m assuming involves forwarding some ports as I’m behind a router with a firewall and NAT.
Sysinternals TCPView
Run TCPView while you are using the VPN and you will be able to determine
which ports it uses.

Order of operation is:
- Direct IP
- NAT
- Relayed
The client will first try to connect using the “local LAN ip” unless you are both on the same LAN this won’t work.
Then it will use a NAT on both your “external Internet ip’s” if that does not work it falls back to Relay over the Comodo servers.
Well it looks like it randomly selects ports each time it logs in so that’s not really helpful…
Perhaps in future version there could be an option to manually set the port that it uses? Then I could easily forward it accordingly on my router.
I want the “NAT” configuration rather than it being relayed to Comodo and back since that results in pings >200ms making it laggy overall. At least with NAT, it seems to keep the ping <100ms for the most part (pinging somebody who shows as “direct”).
Ok, maybe I’m doing something wrong.
I’m trying to use Comodo EasyVPN between my brother and I so we can play LAN games.
- We’ve signed into EasyVPN.
- Added eachother as friends
- Joined a network
We are able to share files and folders. It shows up connected using the type “Direct”. Yet we still cannot see each other no matter who hosts a LAN game.
We’ve both disabled all antivirus and firewall and any other security centers installed.
Anyone have an idea?
Other than this minor issue, my brother and I love this software.

Have you tried to open a command box and ping the 5.x ip on the other side ?
Does that work ? Maybe the game does not bind or recognize the VPN Adapter ?

Is one (or both) of the computers running on Vista?
I found out that XP systems tend to work without problems, but (at least in the cases I’ve tried here with several computers) Vista doesn’t.
Does anyone have a similar experience or advice if a specific setting is required?

Yes, we can ping eachother’s IP. We tried Call of Duty 4 and using Direct IP and still no luck.
I tried on my side both Windows XP 64-bit and Vista 64-bit.
My brother is running Windows XP 64-bit.
Could us running 64-bit be possibly the cause of the issue?
Is anyone experiencing the same issue with Windows 32-bit?

Do you know what “tcp/udp” ports this game uses for it’s server ?
Call of Duty 4 uses:
TCP: 28960
UDP: 28960
Hope this helps.
On the system running the server check this:
Open a command box and type netstat -an then look for this
Proto Local Address Foreign Address State
TCP 0.0.0.0:28960 0.0.0.0:0 LISTENING
UDP 0.0.0.0:28960 :
On the client computer open an command box and type the following:
telnet 5.x.y.z 28960 [ENTER]
That should not complain about failed connections, if so something is blocking traffic in between.
For UDP it’s difficult to test this, you need a “sniffer” on the server system to see if traffic arrives, or you have to make special global rules to allow this traffic for this port and put logging on it.
My brother hosted the game and he saw the following:
Protocol Local Address Foreign Address State
UDP 0.0.0.0:28960 :
He didn’t see anything for TCP.
