Comodo Dragon v55.0.2883.59 is now available for download.

Comodo has been behind on the Chromium release cycle for four years now. It is what we have come to expect even when Comodo employees promise with the best of their expectations and intentions. It’s unfortunate but it’s how things are. :-\

We have a separate topic in which we collect the complaints about release dates since February 2013. I will most likely split and merge subsequent posts about release date with that topic to keep this topic on track.

If a date isn’t met, surely a quick post on the forum explaining the delay and a proposed new date, would be all that is needed. I think the silence makes matters worse.

And unfortunately the silence is also part of what we have come to expect :-\

Shane, please keep our users uptodate with information.

thanks.

Yes, please! Just like “umesh”. He does on CCAV side :-TU

Hi All,

We currently have a Dragon 57 release almost completed with only a few items before we can release.

Our team is on this 100% and working very hard to bring the updated version. It should be soon.

Thanks,
Shane.

Thank you, this is better than nothing. Patience is a virtue, just don’t leave us in the dark.

Thanks for the update Shane. Any news is better than no news and hopefully those few items won’t take to long to finalise. Even a weekly post (doesn’t need to be detailed) shows what is going on behind the scenes would be welcome.

I decided to drop Comodo Dragon since there is no date set. It was been over a month with a promised update but get nothing. I recommended Comodo Dragon as it was updated regularly, not often but was good enough to use as a daily browser. I decided to switch to Avira Scout as they update there browsers more regularly. So I will recommend to anyone, Avira Scout and Opera Stable as they are more secure which is updated more often. It should be soon is not a answer as it has been long over due.

There was some sluggishness which continuously increased during past days. Today CD became unusable for me.
Turned out that the culprit was Comodo Media Downloader; especially making CD unresponsive when Google Inbox, Facebook or Comodo Forums tabs are open (even if they are in background).
Killing CMD immediately made CD lightning fast. Removed the extension right away.

For your information.

Note: Looking forward to the new version!

Another question:
Is it normal that I can’t Sign In to Comodo Dragon in Settings?

Error screen attached.

Will Comodo Dragon get this security fix?

Currently Dragon is vulnerable!

Opera released a fix for this

Thanks,

I certainly hope so and soon. Quite scary really as you wouldn’t notice if you didn’t check the link you hovered over before clicking. Chromium 58 (on Ubuntu, maybe other builds) seem to handle this correctly but Firefox 53 didn’t either.

Following is a quote from yours truly in another topic:

With FF browser the problem can be mitigated:
Firefox users can limit their exposure to this bug by going to about:config and setting network.IDN_show_punycode to true. This will force Firefox to always display IDN domains in its Punycode form, making it possible to identify malicious domains. Thanks to user MARKZILLA from reddit for this temporary solution.

People with Chrome using the latest version are protected:

Chrome 58+ users and Firefox users who apply this fix will see the Punycode domain rather than “apple.com
It’s not perfect but helps to reduce risks.

Also using a password manager helps to mitigate the problem:

A simple way to limit the damage from bugs such as this is to always use a password manager.

Extra vigilance also comes in handy:

In general, users must be very careful and pay attention to the URL when entering personal information. Until this is fixed, concerned users should manually type the URL or navigate to sites via a search engine when in doubt.

Using your bookmarks for important sites may also help to mitigate the issue.

ever since i updated to version 55.0.2883.59 this game will not load on facebook - this is the message i get:

The webpage at https://canvas.oddsocksgame.com/oddsockslive/?from=541784008&fb_ref=Default might be temporarily down or it may have moved permanently to a new web address.

since the other game i play on there loads with no problem, the same as always, it’s obviously not a flash issue (as their tech support suggested).

how do i fix this? thanks!

Thanks for the tip EricJH :-TU. Oddly, Firefox v53 already seems protected against this without change, so maybe I had previously tested against the Windows build.

A new version of Comodo Dragon is available. ??

Why we have to wait here for the link to latest version of the software? Why there is no link to latest version on the Comodo site?

Mine starts to download an update, then states ’ downloaded file is not properly signed !!!

Update failed the first go around. Has been stuck at 30% for at least 45 minutes. The only reason I even knew that Dragon was trying to update was because my desktop shortcut icon changed back to the default, I had been using the Chromium icon. I can see in the Windows Task Manager that dragon_updater.exe *32 is using just under 2 MB of memory and zero cpu as far as I can tell. Looks like I need to stop that process and will try again in a few hours. Bandwidth on my end is not a problem. Running Win7 Pro x64.
