Comodo acquires BOClean! [Closed]

That’s what I thought because re-branding in the software code might take a while if the product is already downloadable by next week.

Indeed.

Our game plan is “To protect our Users”. We believe BOClean will help do that. So the sooner we get it out to them the better.

we want to increase the frequency of the updates also btw.

Lets give Kevin a time, he will protect us all from Malware

I’ve got to hand it to you Melih. You are one stick-to-your-word person.

I have to admit that I figured something this good would get bought out and squashed by the big boys by now. I have watched over the years this happening to so many other good products, BUT, you really plan on making it totally safe to get on the internet again without having to worry about some scumbag POS stealing our “stuff”. Maybe you should buy Microsoft and clean their unsecure OS up while you are at it. :stuck_out_tongue:

Needless to say this latest news impresses me. I take my hat off to you and the Comodo family and wish to thank you, and them, for all of their hard work and the excellent free products you offer.

I would also like to welcome Kevin and Nancy to the Comodo family.

Keep up the good work,
jasper (:CLP)

+1 (:WAV)

Melih,

I know it’s a bit early, but maybe you can answer a question that some people have raised in the DSLReports forum.

Here’s the thread:

http://www.dslreports.com/forum/remark,18075683~days=9999

People are wondering about “what happens to the immunity from intimidation by bad guys that the makers of BOClean have as a consequence of the NY court ruling.”

Apparently, there was a legal issue that Kevin & Nancy won due to the fact that BOClean wasn’t free. Is that going to change now that it will become free? (See the thread for more info.)

If malware is malware, then signature stays in. Period! Its business as usual for BOClean.

it would be a great PR for malware providers to sue us though, as this would give us a great PR to tell the world how we protect them against these type of malware for free. I can see that our marketing dept would have a field day :BNC

We are here to protect our users and we won’t be bullied by some malware provider! We have enough legal power to take them on (:KWL) Plus we have Nick!!!

So… bring’em on …

Melih

Wow! I hear good things about BOClean and their support. With the original developers on board, all the ingredients for success are in hand. Congratulations to Comodo and BOClean! (:CLP)

Thanks innerpeace…

indeed, Boclean is a good product made by good people. Now the person who wrote BOClean is on board with Comodo and he is totally enabled by sizeable resource from Comodo to go ahead and make it happen the way he knows how  So we look forward to it (:NRD)

Some vendors have a “PUPS” section of the program, i believe this is not a bad idea to avoid annoying lawsuits. Basically it tells the user you may not want this program, but does not label it as a virus…

Thumbs up for Comod because It acquires one of the oldest and most respected Anti Trojan companies in the world.Besides, BOClean has one of most effective engine and high qualified team . I hope in the near future you’ll become the number one antivirus too as it’s the firewall. I bought Boclean last year and I should assert it this was shifted to good hands. Good Luck! Best Regards.

I have been a long time user and proponent of Boclean and was wondering what about the people who purchased it. Will we still get our lifetime updates and program updates? If you integrate this into your other software will we be able to still use our stand alone products or be forced to use you suite.(If one is even developed). I guess many of use long time Boclean users are afraid you will go Symantec and make a joke of probably one of the best security software developed.

This is a good question and I am really hoping that it will stay a separate product, and if the user chooses to install more than one then they can in some way integrate to work together (not become one) and provide better protection.

hi doormans

good to have you here as a Boclean user.
its a free product, hence you will always get free updates. We will try to increase the frequency of the updates from daily to more frequent (we’ll see how Kevin will sort it with the new resources he has  ). Comodo will always give the choice of having a pure application. If you want just boclean, you will get just boclean. Unlike other vendors, we don’t have to create a bloatware to justify the amounts we charge.

Melih

Great to hear :BNC

Melih.

I appreciate its early days, but even so, you probably have a long term plan…

Where, exactly, do you see this product as part of the Comodo suite. That is, do you see incorporating BOClean into CAVS or CFP as part of the future

Melih.
Congradulations on acquiring BOCLEAN!! My only hope is that Comando
will let Kevin and Nancy fulfill the dreams and ideas to help make Comando #1.
I believe you got a golden nugget and wish you folks the very best.

Well after reading Melihs post here and Kevins over at Wilders I feel much better about this. I do use your FW on 1 of my computers and am happy with it. Boclean has always been the first thing I install after a reformat and I would feel naked without it. Well lets go and see where the Boclean ride takes us. Good luck Melih and Kevin. :■■■■

Melih,

Is this why you asked me this question?

Melih,

By adding Kevin to your team its like acquiring Mickey Mantle or ■■■■ Ruth! You got one hell of a guy plus a superb program in BOClean. You got a guy who’s built up a very strong reputation and a lot of respect with its users and people in the anti-malware field for close to a decade now. Kevin has always put his customers first above anything else and has always been very honest and upfront about things. You truely got a Hall of Famer. Just please stay out of his way and don’t tell him what to do. It would be like trying to give batting tips to a .400 hitter. Give him more resources like you said and support him in his decisions and then just let him do what he does best and Comodo’s anti-malware programs will be much better for it in the long run.

Long time BOClean user here.

Well, I joined this forum with very mixed emotions. As a long time user of BoClean I am glad it has survived but sad it could not remain stand alone. I would have gladly paid a yearly fee to continue for it to be stand alone.

Having had several e-mail conversations with Kevin, I can assure all the people who have never used BoClean that he is a top notch guy. This is the type of person everyone would want to do business with. I wish him and Nancy all the very best. He has had to put up with lots of slings and arrows from a very vocal few detractors.

I wish everyone at Comodo the very best and hope that this product you have added will turn the security world upside down and demonstrate a giant leap forward in security and integrity.
