hello

new version doesnt change anything for me – same problem as described here https://forums.comodo.com/news-announcements-feedback-cb/comodo-backup-4400-bug-reports-t106628.0.html

help would be appreciated

We get this error when we launch it (I’ve attached a screenshot as well).

c:\docume~1\admini~1\locals~1\temp\Network.lnk
“The parameter is incorrect”

Our backup failed on Windows 2003 R2 64-bit, Comodo Backup 4.4.1.23. It functions as a domain controller.

I’ve also noticed this error on 2008 servers. The common thing between them is that it fails on domain and terminal servers, but it could also be a VSS issue.

There is no other security software installed and the windows firewall is disabled.

Also there are no databases running on the server.

I am backing using a full backup (not differential): the MBR, Drive C, Drive D (physical disk 0) onto a .cbu file on drive E, which is physical disk 1. Drive E has 800GB of free space. I’ve also tried to backup just the MBR and Drive C.

It fails with two different error codes,

Backup “E:\DisasterRecovery\Disk_0_Drive_c_and_d|DATE2|.cbu” failed with code189

Backup “E:\DisasterRecovery\Disk0_MBR_and_Drive_C_11_19_2014.cbu” failed with code33

A backup of disk0 MBR only works. A backup of disk0 drive c (system, boot) fails. Also a backup of only disk0 Drive D fails.

I’ve noticed that the Comodo GUI says that the Disk Driver Is Not Installed.

When I start the backup, my installation of comodo reports that there’s a problem with it. Here’s the diagnose report.txt:

To troubleshoot it, I tried reinstalling it as the administrator user (running on the console) [I installed it as a user in the admin group before, but not “administrator”] and changing the comodo backup service to run as the sa,e console administrator user and I leave this user logged in to the console ( for running after hours) but it fails as well if I run it in the middle of the day.

  • Screen-shots with the error (if any);
  • if the issue is a BSOD, please post all the dump files in \Windows\Minidump folder (you can compress them)
  • if the issue is a crash, program stops responding or freezes please see this topic
  • if the issue is an error please run the dbgInfo.bat in installation folder as administrator and post the resulting cbu file.

It is attached.

  • Any other Additional Information that can help us find the cause of the problem (for example: any non-default settings used);

The program is set to minimum compression. We send an email alert as well to our relay server. We use the |DATE2| macro. We ignore read errors and use VSS to lock the volume. We log to a file and we append to it. All other settings are the default.

I’m curious why this topic was moved here when its a 4.4.1.23 bug report?

ill merge your topic with the correct bug report topic

  1. I just installed Comoco backup (4.4.1) on windows 7 64bit. I had created a scheduled backup to run daily. If fails because the target drive is fat32 and it can’t create a large enough file… ok, that’s understandable. I edited the backup parm and changed it from daily to manual. It is still running daily and shows next backup as never. I’ve restarted comodo but it still runs the backup on a daily basis.

  2. On the 4.4.1 home screen it shows running 4.4.1 Everything is up to date but in the left column highlights it shows 4.3 BETA is available for download. It’s a little confusing that it’s showing a lower level version BETA for download. It may be that this is just some stale information showing up and slipped thru the cracks

Duplicate profiles created when one saves a schedule after creating profile. Schedule does not show scheduled times. This has been reported by three users at following thread.

https://forums.comodo.com/help-cb/custom-profile-duplicates-and-wont-save-schedule-t106538.0.html

Hello

System: win 7 sp1 64 bit + all updates. Antivirus is Avast! (disabled for this test). No other backup besides windows built-in.
Installed Windows 7 AIK ok.

Under Settings, I try to create a bootable rescue disk or ISO image. Blank disk is inserted. Running with Admin rights. The progress gets to 50% then fails every time with error on top: An Error Occurred creating the WinPE image.
The CBU.exe.log shows these potentially relevant errors:

The first error is the key name. SOFTWARE\ComodoGroup\ComodoBackup does not seem to specify HKCU or HKLM. It needs to be HKCU because the key does not exist in HKLM.

I am able to save a system and files backup to an external drive. However It won’t let me create a profile or save the specific files selected to any format. This is the free/test version, so I don’t know if this feature is supposed to be enabled.

Attached is the debuginfo…cbu file
Thank you.

At2010

This bug is with the installer, v4.4.1.23.

  • Windows 7 64bit
  • No other backup. Avast, Zone alarm, COMODO Programs Manager
  • Problem encountered during the ‘Installing’ phase of the installer.
  • Error message: “An error occurred during the installation process !”
  • Installer quits.
  • Full installer log copied below.

My assumptions:

  • When run: Installer unpacks temporary install files to temporary directory %tmp%/TemporaryComodoProduct
  • User agrees to EULA, picks install location, clicks ‘Install’
  • Installer looks for the previously unpacked temporary install files in %Temp%/TemporaryComodoProduct (note difference between %tmp% and %Temp%
  • Files not found. Installer dies.

For a successful install I copied %tmp%/TemporaryComodoProduct to %Temp%/TemporaryComodoProduct. Then ran installer again and it worked like a charm.

Installer log (fail):

Hope this is helpful.

I’m also running windows 7 64 bit and trying to run the installer 4.4.1.23. When I browse to the %tmp%/TemporaryComodoProduct I’m redirected to the %Temp%/TemporaryComodoProduct folder. Tried running the install as administrator and it doesn’t work. I did find that it creates the comodo folders and I believe that CBDrvSys.exe is the only file that makes it in there before the installer craps out. I did find that I can copy the files from the temp folder to the new directory and run it but it’s not happy about it. It’s unable to verify some of the file versions. Would really like to be able to install it without having to manipulate it.

Hello

I am deploying Comodo Backup silently using a script. Today I had the issue that if a user logs in for the first time on a machine and the Windows 10 Welcome Screen shows up it takes a pretty long time to complete and when it does there is no desktop showing up.

This effect is traced down to Comodo since it only happens when the program is installed (not configured and anyway) and that this happens on a fresh Windows 10 LTSB Evaluation. To be more precise… I traced it down to the service: COSService.exe as soon as I deactivate the service the initialisation of the user profile works like a charm.

When I logout the new user (after the initialisation of the desktop failed) and log him back in the desktop is showing up normal and everything seems fine.

I hope you can release a fix for this… even if the issue is resolvable by deactivating the service it gives me feeling that you guys do not really care about Windows 10 readiness.

Network auth bug?

I tried to create a backup job that saves to a network directory, where that directory is on an SMB server (running Samba). The server’s name is nimbus, and CBU shows it nicely in the list with the other hosts on the network. Double-clicking on the server name shows the list of directories that it should (accessing that list is not id/pw protected). However, one of the directories in there, called ‘bkp’ does need an id/pw to access. I can’t get CBU to prompt me for the creds.

Watching the CBU.exe.log file, I see the following line added when I double-click on the ‘bkp’ directory:

[16.01.2017 20:56:42:726|Th000012f8|LN013090|PopulateNetworkTreeForGuiGlobalTH] ValidateNetworkConnectionTH call failed with API_STATUS 4.

I tried clicking on it again, a little later and got these lines in the log file:

[16.01.2017 20:56:59:337|Th000011b8|LN001427|ListenForLoginLogoutThread] Waiting event took longer than 120000 miliseconds.
[16.01.2017 21:01:00:167|Th00001ee4|LN013090|PopulateNetworkTreeForGuiGlobalTH] ValidateNetworkConnectionTH call failed with API_STATUS 4.
[16.01.2017 21:01:05:448|Th00002164|LN002613|NetworkTestConnect] Computer name format is invalid for example it should be ‘\EmanuelPc’ or ‘\?\UNC\Emanuelpc’
[16.01.2017 21:01:05:464|Th00001e88|LN012825|PopulateNetworkTreeForGuiGlobalTH] ValidateNetworkConnectionTH call failed with API_STATUS 2.
[16.01.2017 21:01:07:120|Th000022a4|LN002613|NetworkTestConnect] Computer name format is invalid for example it should be ‘\EmanuelPc’ or ‘\?\UNC\Emanuelpc’
[16.01.2017 21:01:07:136|Th00002280|LN012825|PopulateNetworkTreeForGuiGlobalTH] ValidateNetworkConnectionTH call failed with API_STATUS 2.

I tried manually typing this into ‘Backup Name’ but same issue:

[16.01.2017 21:02:47:779|Th000023ec|LN013090|PopulateNetworkTreeForGuiGlobalTH] ValidateNetworkConnectionTH call failed with API_STATUS 4.

Let me try to restate the configuration on my SMB share:

\nimbus\ allows all, no creds needed
\nimbus\bkp\ needs creds
\nimbus\Public\ allows all, no creds, and CBU was able to backup to it

The fact that \nimbus\Public works, tells me that it is in fact a permission/auth problem in walking directory trees.

Is there someplace (that I haven’t found) where I can enter creds to be used by CBU? The creds I need are not the ‘currently logged in user.’

Hi,

I started to get an “Backup failed with code 3 (Not enough memory)”.

Interesting that the day prior I had backed up a larger partition without a problem.
I did try compression on this smaller backup, though.

Any thoughts?

Using Win XP SP3 with 2 Gigs RAM, and plenty of Backup hard drive space.

Thanks in advance

  1. “An error occurred while setting the schedule. The schedule has not been set.”

After creating a schedule, I get this when attempting to edit it. Always. Impossible to get around without deleting the backup/schedule and - carefully - recreating it from scratch. Very annoying and fiddly.

  1. “Backup “\MYCLOUD{attached USB drive}{sub-folder}backup_inc_files.cbu” failed with code9” or, similarly, “… failed with code4”.

The last failure - a code 9 - occurred at around the 180G mark on a weekly scheduled backup. It also completely deleted the archive. Gone, after 24 hours of backing up. Seems that it was a network issue but Comodo just threw in the towel and died instead of retrying/picking up where it left off/etc. I am yet to have a backup actually work using Comodo CB. It’s a very frustrating piece of kit. If you can rely on a backup application, it’s pointless.

I’m going to try to split the back ups into smaller “chunks” and schedules but if this doesn’t work - reliably - it’s gone. It’s a pity because its one of the few that (supposedly) supports network drives on a schedule. (or maybe it doesn’t …)

Windows Server 2008R2 62bit Gigabyte BRIX I7 16G RAM 250G Samsung SSD. v4.4.1.23 fresh install (twice). I can’t see the rest of the suggested inclusions from here, sorry.

Further to my last post - is anyone monitoring these forums? - I’ve now settled into these two errors - 1 and 9.

I have five separate scheduled backups, all coming from a MyCloud NAS to a local 1T hard drive on a Win Server 2008R2 box, segmented into 700MB chunks.

Of the five schedules, 2 ALWAYS work and 3 ALWAYS fail, usually with Code 1 or Code 9, neither of which is specified in the error code list …

It seems to be a pretty ridiculous situation where the schedule creates, say 40G of backup segments and on the very last index write, it fails AND THEN DELETES EVERYTHING IT CREATED OVER 6-8 HOURS!

That’s crazy.

Anyway, unless some gets back to me soon, Comodo BU is getting binned.

Debug info from the end of the last failure. This was an incremental on a BU that had worked previously. Initial entries are just a few of many near the end of the BU.

Apologies for this, but there is no other way to see HOW TO POST A NEW POST !!!
The explanation in the Help (Posting - Online Manual) is not valid because I do not see a button for New Topic anywhere on this board.
Please answer so that I can post my actual problem.

Near the top of any board you will find the buttons for new topic, mark read, notify, etc. See attached with highlighted area.
