Wondered if anyone has compared these 3 anti virus programs ?

Avira Free, Avast, and AVG

It has been a long time since I used Avira Free. When I did use it the detection was excellent , light on the resources. My only negative were the popups suggesting I upgrade to the paid version. Which someone had a work around.

Just installed CIS 7 on my daughters laptop and wondered advantages and disadvantages of using Avira Free ?

Of the 3 A’s, I think you should consider mainly Avast and Avira, both in recent tests have shown extremely few to null FP’s. Both have very good detection rates, though Avira usually obtains higher detection rates than Avast but Avast’s settings are very configurable ( right from the point of installation ).

My only negative were the popups suggesting I upgrade to the paid version.
Since then Avira has removed that annoying upgrade popup.

I think either one with Comodo Firewall will make a good combo. And of course, CIS is a very good choice as is.

Avira and Avast are preferred over AVG ? I liked Avira because it was light, Avast because it did more.

Wondered why AVG fell to 3rd with those I spoke with?

Currently I will run CIS7 with its own antivirus, IF I swich it will be one of these 2.
