Windows XP User Profile Size

+1 on Soya’s tips. OpenOffice.org though, adds less only a few hundreds of KB. :-TU

Okay.

I got rid of OpenOffice since I don’t use the other stuff, And I am now using AbiWord. I also replaced iTunes with Foobar2000. Both programs are small download & install size. And I only needed 2 small plugins to get the Ipod plugin with Foobar.

I love it so far! Very happy indeed. No more iTune services (Even though I could disable them!) But even then, If I connected my Ipod to my laptop the ipod service would start, Not with Foobar. :BNC

Pretty sweet. Thanks for the Advice Soya.

No need to get rid of OOo. 88)

I’ll install it when 3.0 portable arrives, and I’m telling you, my profile will still be smaller than Soya’s. :BNC

I haven’t added this tip to further reduce it.

Move all or as many files as possibile (i.e. shortcuts) from:
C:\Documents and Settings<your username>\Start Menu\Programs\Startup to

to:
C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Start Menu

Things in the All Users directory doesn’t affect your current profile size, so use this to your advantage!

I’ve always had all shortcuts in All Users! :BNC

here is mine on Vista, I like to put heavy things on desktop
Should I put start menu shortcuts in All Users? :o ;D

If you have a million shortcuts it might help. ;D
