Windows XP Pro Startup is taking 20 to 30 minutes to complete. I have a IBM ThinkPad T40P with 1.5GB RAM, 18GB of free space. I have a Intel Centrino Processor 1.6GHz. I have wireless adapter with the Centrino & a Linksys Wireless Adapter. I have Blackberry desktop manager running out of one of my USB ports. I have all the Updates to Windows XP Pro Service Pack 2 loaded.
The only way I can get a faster startup is:
delete the Comodo Firewall (v3.0.14.276) Software before I shutdown .
Or
Delete the Blackberry software before I shutdown.
Or
remove the Linksys WPC3000N adapter before I reboot.
I have marked the Ethernet Ports as valid with Software.
I installed v.276 on my T43 with Windows XP Pro SP2 x32 and Kaspersky AV 7.0.0.125, and I could never get to my fingerprint login prompt. My system locked into an endless loop with a dialogue window stating, “Checking the status of the security chip…”
I tried everything, including the addition of nearly every Client Security Solution 8.0 (an IBM security product) executable and DLL as a Trusted Application. Adding Lenovo as a Trusted Vendor didn’t work, either. All of this troubleshooting had to be performed in Safe Mode.
I had to revert back to v.273, which worked well before.
You must have the biblical patience of Job to watch your system boot for 30 minutes. Paint dries faster, I’ve heard, LOL.
