Windows asking for CIS firewall to be turned on

Noting this is a Known issue 8) , and that your developers are working on this so I but I’ve been seeing the same issue on Windows 7.

My thought was that somehow a portion of the registry had got badly re-written or corrupted by another application ( I also use Spybot Search and Destroy from Safer Networking.), because I also sometimes get a message from Mozilla Thuderbird (an e-mail client) about it not recalling it’s “integration” status. Having done frequent virus scans, (And I would assume CIS does it own internal checks as well.) I think I can rule out it being a third party malware causing the problem. I’ve also had some “unexpected” display driver crashes and this may be were the registry concerns may have occured.

(Aside: A tool to examine the registry directly for suspect entries would be useful , Cleaning Essentials does some of this already.)

Thanks for your reply. Before never happen is the rare situation.

Comodo is looking into this problem.

When it happens it tends to scare people thinking there is a huge problem because CIS does not appear to be working where it 99,99% of the time functions like it should. With my reply I try to take away the worries and anxiety people are feeling.

In short it is a problem but not with functioning of CIS but of how things get perceived because of communication problems between CIS and SC.

I’ve been experiencing this “annoyance” as well. Since CFW appears to be running I thought it was a timing issue related to startups. I tried selectively disabling startups via MSCONFIG but eventually gave up without discovering any one startup causing a lag.

Glad to see it is being looked into.

I have just started to experience this issue. I am using Windows 10 x64 1809. I’ve had it in the past but not lately until now.

If CIS reports it is running it is running.

Windows Security Center is nothing but a dashboard that brings status reports of security programs in one place. The communication between SC and security programs is not always working properly. WSC has no added value.

So when CIS reports it is working follow that and disregard WSC. Then there is just a communication issue. Comodo is looking into the communication issues.

Hello, since version 12.0.0.6818 Windows (defender security center) doesnt recognize regurlarly CIS as active Firewall anymore - sometimes it does sometimes not like chance 1:3 it does after restart pc. Also installing CIS v12.0.0.6818 on a fresh Windows 10 1903 copy has the same issue.

When coming the update of the update ?

I see my topic got moved… I find it anyhow an impudence that topics getting moved without reply or without notifying by admin so far how you can see that the problem is also not depend on a certain OS but consist obvious since the last update (v12.0.0.6818) by COMODO then delete my topic :frowning:

I merged it with this topic as it is the same issue which is not dependent on OS. Comodo is aware of the issue but the fix has yet to be implemented, it might be fixed in the next release.

Hi AndyWarrior,

Thank you for Reporting,We will check in it.
Could you please check your inbox for PM and perform the action mentioned in it.

Regards,
PD

Merged duplicate topic of same issue. Workaround is to either disable Comodo AV or firewall then turn it back on, another users said you can open the manin CIS GUI and switch between basic and advanced view to reset the warning.

In my PC I definitely resolved changing Security Server Service (wcsvc) “Startup type” from “auto start delayed” to “auto start”

But you cant do that using the service manager of windows. I think it is possibles in Killswitch (i used Process Hacker indeed)

Every time I start my PC lately, I get a Windows notification that pops up in my action center that says:

“Windows firewall and Comodo firewall are both turned off. Tap or click to see available options”

Clicking it asks me if I want to turn on either one. Why does this keep happening? It only started up a few weeks ago and it’s driving me nuts.

Comodo is not turned off. It starts normally. I’m thinking this probably started when I ran a recent Windows update, but I can’t pin down an exact date when I started noticing this.
