We are in Europe. We got legislation about data protection, Directive 95/46/CE.
Comodo is not a safe harbor company, or is it?
To ensure compliance we need to know where do our data go, where are they physically stored.
Are data stored in the USA, or in the UK, or elsewhere?
I guess many users in Europe should be concerned about this issue.
Thanks.
The answer is USA.
Comodo is a “safe harbor” because the data is encrypted, so no unauthorized access should occur.
Further more, you can add an extra layer of encryption if you use .cbu backup with password protection enabled.
Thanks
Thanks for your reply.
It’s not about encryption. It’s something more.
The organizations notify the Department of Commerce that they adhere to the safe harbor framework developed by the Department of Commerce in coordination with the European Commission. The safe harbor provides guidance for U.S. organizations on how to provide adequate protection for personal data from Europe as required by the European Union’s Directive on Data Protection.
I am not able to find COMODO in the list:
http://safeharbor.export.gov/list.aspx
why? that’s is the point.
Because we use Amazon as a backend provider for Online Storage.
Amazon is in the list.
Thanks
