Comodo is simply amazing, and I’ve been using the Firewall and eventually Defense+ when they first came out. But one thing keeps bothering me with every new version, and that’s the name changes.
I like to install and use applications with simple, non-confusing, and easy to remember names. I have absolutely no interest in products that use hyperbolical marketing ‘sizzle word’ name extensions.
Comodo Internet Security Premium Professional Plus Gold Platinum Advanced Ultra Express Deluxe Edition 2000 1337 LOL ROFL BBQ .
What makes this really disconcerting (besides the issue that everyone else is doing it) is when I suggest Comodo to people, many come back asking, “Where do I download the free version? I can only find the Premium version on their site?! =(”
I would even go so far as saying Internet Security is just a marketing copy-cat of Norton Internet Security (and everyone else who copied them) but at least it’s a reasonable and valid product name, as-is, no suffix needed.
Please drop the useless extension. There is nothing Premium about Comodo Internet Security, and it doesn’t need to be. Let it just be itself.

I’m not entirely sure what you meant above. Fancy words can be used for marketing, but you don’t believe Comodo is using the word “Premium” for marketing purposes? Or you do believe in using “Premium” for marketing leverage?
Why should Comodo Internet Security require either word “Free” or “Premium”? I wish it were simply called Comodo Internet Security and that’s it. Same as Microsoft Word or Internet Explorer or Google Chrome. You don’t see any catchy marketing slang tacked to the end of software titles produced by professional software companies.
Would you download Google Chrome Ultimate? Would you scratch your head?
