Adblock Plus (Fanboy, EasyPrivacy and Chrome filters)
Bookmarks Menu (to save on real estate)
Custom new tab (so StartPage search engine opens with each tab)
Ghostery
HTTPS Everywhere
LastPass (don’t know how I managed without it)
ScriptNo (although thanks to the 22.0.4.0 fiasco I lost my whitelist which took ages to compile)
WOT
I’ve also just added No SOPA after reading Chiron’s post.
Edit: Regarding Adblock Plus, although I like Fanboy’s list, I’ve found it does rather slow things down when used with EasyPrivacy, so I replaced it with EasyList. I also don’t use Chrome’s recommended filters anymore, but have added Malware Domains.
Bookmark Sentry
Over time I find myself bookmarking the same sites creating duplicates and some bookmarks become outdated creating dead links.
I find Bookmark Sentry is good at finding these issues.
I only do manual scans of my bookmarks randomly and in between I leave the extension disabled, this can be set to do scheduled scans but I personally prefer to use it manually.
Ghostery - awaiting the return of PrivAlert
LastPass Premium - The fact it syncs across all your devices makes it worth the upgrade
ScriptSafe - I was slow moving across to CD, The active development and quality of this extension was the final nail in Waterfox’s coffin, with the right settings applied I can achieve a reasonably good Panopticlick score - less than 1 in 80’000 https://panopticlick.eff.org/
AdBlock - Easy privacy/Easy list - If someone made a version of this for the TV they would be a very wealthy person and would instantly become my hero
HTTPS Everywhere - self explanatory
Disconnect - Stop 3rd party site tracking - Steve Gibson talks about 1 aspect of Disconnect (Facebook Disconnect) in this episode of Security Now Disconnect Widget Jacking
Vanilla - delete cookies when tab is closed
Tab Cookies - cookie control
My extensions reflect my strong belief in our right to privacy
Extensions Manager (aka Switcher) 0.1.9.48
Handy extensions, applications & themes manager. Not enabled. Using ‘Customize Menu’ instead.
LastPass 2.0.14
LastPass is a free password manager and form filler.
Print 2.0.2.5
Print the current page you see.
Scroll Bar 1 (Blue) 1.0
A Blue color rounded corner scroll bar.
Universal Search & IE8 Accelerators 1.1
Universal Search is the missing search tool for chrome, includes searchbox with suggestions, highlight search and IE8 accelerators
All extensions are available at the Chrome Web Store, with the exception of: Comodo Privalert 0.4 & Comodo Web Inspector.
NOTE: 1. I have stopped using PrivAlert and am now trying AVG Do Not Track.
2. Stopped using Web Inspector, as it does not seem relevant to my requirements.
3. Now using AdBlock for Chrome instead of ABP.
Everything else is h redundant in my eyes. Sure, changing the theme wont slow the browser down much, but utilizing a trillion different ‘utility’ extensions causes horrible lag if you don’t pay attention to conflicting bits of code.
Thanks for the tip about the blue scroll bar! I found that with Windows 8 it’s almost impossible to see where the bar is! I personally don’t find any use for auto-scroll, I prefer scrolling myself. =P
The only one I use in Dragon is AdBlock, not AdBlock plus , just the one called AdBlock. I might install Bookmarks Menu since I hate the bookmarking of Dragon and Chrome. I don’t see a need for any others.
