Virus test

Hello, I took from one torent tracker this link http://forum.ichip.ru/index.php?act=Attach&type=post&id=2159. In him there are 1761 viruses and others malware according to their writer.I hope that this helps at their neutralize.
It is the passphrase virus

Comodo missed 559 viruses. When I turned it to the highest heuristics, it got 12 more. With the normal heuristics, that gives Comodo a somewhat disappointing 68% detection rate. Here are the results with normal heuristics with the latest virus definintions as of this post:

Hi , just a couple of questions, the above file is what I would guess a false virus app that inserts these definitions to test your anti - virus software, correct? If so, could this be the reason that Comodo didn’t find all of them? Obviously they are not real viruses and must have been altered so thinking this affects the outcome of the scan?

Paul

No, they are just a lot of virus files packed into a lot of folders. Meaning that if you ran them, your system would get pwned. (:LGH)

It might be somewhat irresponsible on the owners to distribute real viruses to anyone over the internet, but yeah, it’s a real virus.

Well this is odd to say the least. Being so in tuned to keeping stuff off the pc, I hardly feel right putting it on there, lol. So you open this thing and they sit harmlessly in a folder. Well, this rules out my theory then. :o

Thanks,

Paul

Nonetheless, I still use CAVS. I’m loyal to the point of stubbornly ignoring blatant logic. ^^
Why do you think it took me 4 months to switch from ZA to CFP?

LOL. I understand that. I was using ZA for years, found CFP and goodbye ZA. Not to mention they were sending info to other servers in other countries. I don’t use CAV  YET. I have used Vcom Fix it utilities for years and it does have a lot of good points and has done well and I paid for it, lol. This is the reason I was thinking of testing it to see how it holds up. Do you suggest the above as well then or know of better anti-v testing?

Just turn off real-time scanning temporarily (Important), download the above, unzip it, scan that unzipped folder with your AV, remove as much as you can, and see how much is left. It’s a good representation of your AV’s power. The AV you use is rather unpopular and thus will not have a lot of professional testing such as AV-Test.org or sites like that who did the work for you.

Alrighty, be back in a few…hopefully. :o

Paul

Looking to hear from you. ^^

Well, it’s asking me for a password to extract to a folder. Obviously I don’t have one. ??? Any thoughts?

LOL, so that’s what he meant, alrighty. I am an expert at missing the obvious. BRB.

Okay. ^^
I’m eagerly awaiting your response.

This is the real virus and malware. I recommendet not started the files. PASSWORD: virus

Question, though.
Are these viruses that can affect XP?
Because if these are old DOS viruses, then it wouldn’t really matter if Comodo detected them, since they couldn’t harm the computer anymore anyway…

That’s about what I got, but I’ve submitted the remainder to Comodo for analysis and inclusion (probably along with a thousand others. LOL). It’s getting there - it’s not there yet, but they’ve come a hell of a long way in under 12 months.
ewen

Well the results are in although I had to take the highway to hell to get there so I very much apologize for the wait but it was no picnic here either. My little girl has the stomach flu and all I heard was Daaaaddddyyyyyy… BLLaarrrgghhhhhh! Sploooshhhh. Yeah, real fun with REAL viruses. Wanna play? So now that I cleaned up her dinner, onward…

I had a heck of a time with this since it doesn’t tell me a number of removed threats if quaranteened. So, it goes…

Scanned 1763 files\folders… ok 2 are parent folders I assume…

First pass: 1609 detected, 29 still active <can’t quaranteen or remove, opt for manual

Deleted the quaranteened, some deleted auto, I didn’t get a number in quaranteen it doesn’t say but anyway, I kept the size\file comparion and I am disappointed…

According to everything\total removed\total unzipped…I am still left with 584 of them (:AGY)

Something possessed me to download and extract these viruses, to see how my Kaspersky 6.0 stacked up. It told me that it scanned around 22000 objects and found 1721 threats. I had it set on automatic delete, and when it was finished I was left with only 47 files left, all the other folders were empty.

22000 objects? :o Is there that many in that folder? ???
