Virus signature update [30% failure]

Hi, my first day as CIS user but despite of 6 hours of installation my virus signature files have not been successful in getting updated as it always end up in an error after 30%.

I have read at different threads that after first install a very big file has to be downloaded, then once all done it jumps from 30% to 51% directly, some users reported hours of downloading on very fast connections (e.g. T1, etc).

In my case, I am using 256kbps connection where I get maximum download speed of 90kbps so please tell me will I ever be able to get virus signatures update?

Secondly, is there any direct download option like other anti-virus software provide [i.e. symantec where you can download virus definition updates separately].

Hi hellborne, welcome to the forums.

CIS’s AV download indicator is a bit like Microsoft’s Windows Update download indicator… between 1% - 30% you’re downloading. 30% usually indicates that CIS is… erm… chewing on what it has received. And it is possible to receive further downloads & more chewing (waiting) at the 50-60% range as well. This is most applicable to first-time downloads (new installations) and large (out-of-date?) downloads.

I’m personally not sure if there is a direct AV definitions download link (it’s in very small chunks, especially the whole thing), although I do remember this question being asked before. You’ll need to wait for someone else to answer.
