Hello, I had to downgrade from 49.0 to 40.1.1.18 because every time icedragon updated, it would tell me to restart the program, then I would receive the following error message:
“icedragon.exe - System Error”
“The program can’t start because api-ms-win-crt-runtime-|1-1-0.dll is missing from your computer. Try reinstalling the program to fix this problem.”
I would go to the comodo website to download the installation file, but the download link is for version 40.1.1.18, and it gives me to option to downgrade to that version, so I did. Once installed, it said an updated version was ready (which was expected), so I chose to upgrade to the latest version. Once installed, it gives the message to restart icedragon, but once I do that, it doesn’t restart. I get the above error message instead. So now I’m stuck with it until this situation is resolved. I also had to turn off automatic updates to avoid having the problem repeat itself. (It did this twice before I realized I had automatic updates enabled.)
Could it be a problem with the “update” within the program, meaning that when you update it from the existing program it causes an error? Would a complete uninstallation of icedragon followed by directly downloading and installing the newer version fix this problem? If so, I need the latest version to download. As mentioned, the one provided on the comodo site is for an older version.
There are threads of this topic open, but to add it is a error with 49 and no fix as of now
if you did update from 48.2 and have a system restore made before any update to 49 that is the best complete way to go back to 48.2
that’s what i did, but you will need to turn off auto update fast or you be back where you started
Sounds like you downloaded an obsolete file which back-graded your installation.
The only way that I’m aware that occurs is if one is running a non-SSE3 compliant OS/CPU and the install update script fails. This scenario necessitates downloading the entire installation file. Obviously there’s an issue with that and until Comodo resolves that for all comers, it will be a continued issue.
On my system that .dll was missing because I was missing an update to C++. When I downloaded and installed the missing version as described in the article I’m linking below, the issue cleared up and I could run CID 49. YMMV
I installed all the updates, including the one for C++ and I still get the error message from a clean install and an upgrade, so I have had to keep reverting to 48.0.0.2. Do you know specifically which DLL (or C++ update) we need and where we can download it? Why doesn’t it come as part of the installation package.
It’s listed in the article I linked, the specific build you need. I’ve had this problem on three separate machines now, two running Windows 7 and one Windows 8.1 and this has fixed them all.
