Verification Engine question

I have a simple question, if i visit a phishing site will Verification Engine prevent from entering it? Or it will ask my permision to enter it? dont understund how it works! can i make it so it asks me if i want to enter the site?!

Verification Engine will display a green border around the browser upon hovering the mouse over their site logo. It also will display the border upon entry to the site, with a trail of green arrows pointing to and moving towards the logo itself.

Whats the point about this blue / Red border if i already have visited the site and my personal informations are stolen? Exaple,i am visiting a site and VE shows this Red Border, but whats the point my information is still lost cause i already have entered this site!

Forgive, I have never experienced a blue / red border.
If you see the green border, the site is valid. No information has been given upon entering the site. CVE protects against phishing sites.

Woops yeah, Green border my mistake :stuck_out_tongue: , ok thanks i got it now!

Hi Guys ,

I think there is still some “mis”… 88)… whatever… mis-understanding… mis-interpretation here … despite sure the color thing now is clear - green or red not a “Viagra” colour ;D

The thing (CVE) is just showing that you are dealing with the site you want to deal with &
… nothing else , as far as I understand … “that it is not a fake site” if you see the green border
If you see the red - stay away, but if that is green it does not mean that the site & content cannot be hacked, full of malware scripts, & so on

You should have different layers of security in addition to that, so you can check if the content is “Ok”

Please correct me if I am wrong

Cheers!

Is the tray icon of VE change colour too if i am in a phising site?

No. The tray icon is strictly to update VE.
This program (VE) is a Browser plugin only.
If you wish, you can safely remove the tray icon with no ill effects towards VE itself (which only runs when your browser runs).

1) This tool cannot be considered as anti-phishing as it was pointed
(again … devs can correct me if I am wrong, but it seems - I am not, am I?).

It whitlisting based on certificates.
If the site is “authentic” based on the said fact only - you have a green border – it just means that you are having deal with the site you want to deal with… nothing else.

If the “authentic site” is poisoned you do not have an idea!

It is still green – VE is not a link-checker. There are several Tools like that out there including what Comodo has ( see about layered security in my reply above)
Those (on-line or off-line are analyzing the code of the site.

VE does not!!! do that

Remember the case when TrendMicro Antivirus users being infected by visiting the site?
(happened with many other legit sites as well, many were/are security related)
Ok – so, if you would use VE at that time – you would have perfect green border!!!

2) as for the comment by John regarding the icon. True !
You can disable running VE on Windows startup using whatever autoruns manager you are using.
That will just decrease the booting time , which is good … at the same time the VE & its green/red border will work because … as John said : “…Browser plugin only…”

*** added *** forgot to mention - if you disable VE on Windows Startup that will eliminate the old bug that was reported but never addressed by the developers -
you’ll not see the yellow notification window about inability to identify the site / or whatever… connecting to the server ??? 88)
The thing is - the lil ■■■■■■ window will pop-up despite one never tried yet to connect to any site on Win Startup … I know I know you may think that it’s kinda communicating with some MS site - … who cares?
*** end of added ***

Cheers!

What’s preventing me from being able to see the security words on Ticketmaster when trying to order tickets? Never had this problem before. Since I switched to Comodo security AV and firewall, I can’t order tickets!!!

Hi lulubelles , welcome to the forum

You double posted about “security words” when using Ticketmaster

1st - double posting never does a job regarding getting faster responses &
subsequently solutions

Them pleas provide more info about you system

What OS ? What browser? What version of Comodo?
What do you mean by “security words” ?

Can you post the image /message or whatever that you are expecting to see or have seen in the past in order to clarify the matter

That is most unlikely in any case that the issue is related to Vengine (CVE) in any case

At the same time, it is very easy to uninstall CVE & you will be convinced that it is not the case (correct me if I am wrong)

My regards

I tried disabling Comodo and it did not help me see the security words sent by reCaptcha. On TIcketmaster, you have to type in the words they show, in order to prove that you’re a real person and not an automated device. These words don’t show up and they always used to. I’m using Comodo Internet Security Premium, Internet Explorer 8 and sometimes Firefox. Doesn’t work in either. They don’t show in either browser. I only posted twice by accident…I’m new at this forum and wasn’t sure it posted the first time. Sorry for that.

Hi lulubelles ,

Most likely that is a matter of the settings in your browser.
It may just block either script or the whole recaptcha.net cross site

That’s where you have to look at & find what’s going on , as I can see it

… but Vengine should not interfere in this case

My regards

Is there a 2.8 or Beta version of Verification Engine available?
