Tried upgrading from 2.3.4.45 to 2.3.5.x without uninstalling first. CPF offered to uninstall, which I accepted. Rebooted, as CPF recommended and, on reboot “blue screened”, tried booting into Safe Mode, “blue screened”, powered down completely, logged in as a different user, also a “Computer Administrator” and was able to install CPF, however, none of my settings had carried forward as promised. It appears that the “registry backup, uninstall, reboot, install upgrade, insert registry keys, reboot” is still the preferred method. At least the Launch Pad is gone!
