Updater and constant connections

Hey, I’m not sure where to post this or if it has been answered. It seems that searching for “static” would give me too many responses to be useful.

I am using comodo internet security premium, ver 5.9.219863.2196 on xp64. Every day I get a popup, the window is called comodo internet security updater. In the window there is just the word “Static” no other information. Why is this?

Also I noticed that there are persistent connections to download.comodo.com 91.199.212.171. Connections appear to happen every five minutes. This seems excessive.
