good day to all!
I’m a newbie here.
i have a question here regarding the “CHECK FOR UPDATE” button for COMODO BOCLEAN ANTI-MALWARE Last update:(UTC) 2007-08-08 16:21:40
as my subject states, there is an update error happening if I click the check for update button.
the exact message is “ERROR! Not connected…Check connection or firewall settings”
please advice me what to do here.
after clicking update, the error message automatically pops up, but my comodo firewall does not detect any connection made by the boclean.
is there any special setup to make the update work?
other info:
this is my first installation of boclean…i did not change any default settings
my AV: NOD32
firewall:COMODO firewall
OS: xp sp2
using firefox and spywareblaster

by the way, another LOGICAL QUESTION…if indeed that comodo boclean update error states that I am not connected to internet, how can I type this question and enter this forum? ???

I hope anyone here could please help me.
thanks in advance…

Have you read the FAQ on Update Issues?
Update Issues

There are several posts on update problems with helpful answers.
Please read these first.
If you need to post after going through these, please include OS and CBO client information.

Is IE in “Offline” mode?

Did you try the Updater in the startup folder?

Did you give “Modify” and “Write” rights to the Limited users?

Did you install in admin mode?
Have you rebooted?

Administrator cannot update:

The issue was IE - not Outlook Express - see:

Both links describe the IE issue. Interesting to note that the first linked KB article was last reviewed yesterday. Even though they both refer to IE 4 and/or 5, evidently the issue continued in IE6.
Also worthwhile noting that the issue does not appear to be resolved by MS, the registry change may not stick and they admit to such in the KB article.
Resetting :
HKEY_USERS\SID\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings\GlobalUserOffline to 0 resolved the issue on all the boxes in question.

Here’s another solution to get Comodo BoClean to update.

Shutdown BOClean from systray.
Go to C:\Program Files\Comodo\CBOClean
Right-click BOC423.exe then click Properties.
Click the “Compatibility” tab
Under Privilege level
Check the box “run this program as administrator”
Click OK then close the properties.

Launch BOClean, right-click then click check for updates.

thanks for the response, sorry for the late reply…
I was reading the quoted forums that you provided “STEP-BY-STEP” so that I can resolve my problem.
if still nothing happens…I would post again…
thanks again…
