Unable to patch

I’ve been using CFP3 on Vista 32-bit for a few months now, and I have never been able to patch it. For example, right now I’m running the previous version, 3.0.20.320. I went to Free Firewall - Download the Best Firewall Protection and Anti-Virus Scan Software from Comodo and downloaded the 32-bit upgrade patch. When I try to install it I get the same message that I always get when I try to patch the program: “Installed version of COMODO Firewall Pro is not compatible with patch. Aborting upgrade.” The filename of the patch is CFP_Patch_3.0.14.276_XP_Vista_x32.exe, which I find odd because that version is neither the latest version nor the version that I have.

Am I misunderstanding what this patch file is supposed to do, or is something wrong here? Since the patches haven’t been working I have had to keep using the full installer for new versions, which wipes out my settings every time - a real pain. Thanks for any advice.

If you want to do an update, go to miscellaneous/check for updates and you should be able to download and install the latest version without modfying your settings. Don’t know what this useless old patch is still doing on the Comodo website; probably just missed by the webmaster.

Hi,
You can use ‘manage my configuration’ under miscellaneous window to pass settings between versions when you install CFP from scratch.

So if I understand correctly Comodo was providing downloadable patch files for a while, but is no longer doing so? I have dial-up access on my home computer with CFP3, and it would be nice to be able to download a patch on my broadband connection at work. If anyone at Comodo is reading this, please provide current downloadable patches! Meanwhile I’ll give the configuration export/import a try.

The patch file was for only one(1) version.
Update has worked for all others most of these updates are small.

I am working up the courage to install v3. How can you pass settings between versions if v2.x has to be completely removed first?

Can’t do it. There is no upgrade path from v2 to v3. v3 is very good at learning your system out of the box, though.
