Trojan detection in downloads.

Hi everybody.

Long story short. Installed Firewall and like it. Decided to try Anti-virus. Had ClamWin.
But the assumption was that two products by the same company would be complimentary to each other. Surprise, when I re downloaded and tried to install Tvu. A trojan was detected. Didn’t write down the def. The same def. as when i tried to install MediaCoder. What’s interesting is that when I scanned the zip file and unzipped file they came out clean. Only when I try to install does the warning appear.
Till I get an reasonable explanation and remedy I’m back with ClamWin.
Both products are Chinese so if you let your imagination fly…

Best,

Val.

Entirely possible that there is an infected file within the install executable that is extracted during setup. There are God knows how many packers and compressors out there. Comodo have added numerous unpacker routines to CAVS. This may be a case of one they haven’t yet added.

You could lodge a support ticket for this at http://support.comodo.com

Unfortunately, until I get a definite answer as to why?
I’ll stay with Clam…
I ran tests from http://www.eicar.org/anti_virus_test_file.htm and both anti virus programs detected them.
Right now I’m trying to find two more reputable programs to check their behavior.

Hey Val,

The only way you’ll get a definite answer is to lodge a support ticket on the official support centre. This is just a user forum and, while the CEO and developers from Comodo hang out here, the supoprt centre should be used for this type of query.
