The "scan all files..." box in settings becomes unchecked

The shortcuts tab tells me that, “Backup shortcuts are unavailable because the scanning for backup purposes is disabled. The option can be enabled in the settings menu.”

When I check the, “Scan all the files on this computer for backup purposes,” in Settings, the scans on the shortcut tab take place, but as soon as they are finished, I am told that, “Scan is disabled,” and the, "Scan all files. . . " box in settings is unchecked.

This has happened repeatedly.

What am I doing wrong?
