System freezes while browsing remote directories

I’m experiencing system freezing anytime I browse the directories on my remote NAS system. I can navigate to the remote directories fine, but as soon as I begin to browse the directory listings, my system will freeze for what seems like 5 minutes. The Comodo icon in the task bar has all the green and red arrows displayed during this freezing period.

Some of the directories contain simply .txt, .doc & .jpg files and some contain .mp3 & .mpg. It doesn’t seem to matter how many files are actually in the directory. The longest delay seems to occur when I first access the directories. Subsequent access (the same day that is) to these directories doesn’t seem to take as long.

I’m using CFP v. 3.0.13.268 on WinXP 64-bit.

I haven’t really configured any rules for the firewall. Are there additional rules that I can set/unset to alleviate this problem?

I do not experience the freezing if I completely close out Comodo.

Any suggestions?

Thanks.

Hi tecbox

Welcome to the Comodo Forum

I see you are still using version 3.0.13.268. There is a new version out that fixes a lot of bugs that the earlier versions had. If you have not tried it you should. It is v- 3.0.14.276 and is found here.

You should be able to use it with default settings if install goes well. Be sure to uninstall your current version first. I always like to uninstall in safe mode, but do not install in safe mode.

John

Thanks John. I’ll give that a shot and let you know how it goes.

The new version made an incredible difference. Thanks for the suggestion John.

Thanks for a great FREE product Comodo !!!

Guess I spoke too soon. I began to browse my remote directories again today and the same freeze occurred ! I was really hoping that the newest release would have helped, but no joy.

Are there any config options that would alleviate and/or improve browsing remote directories?

thanks.

Well at this point it appears that the culprit may be AVG Anti-Virus. I was considering switching AVG out for Comodo Anti-Virus.

Now I know this is a Comodo forum, but does anyone have experience on how Comodo compares to AVG? AVG has performed well for me up to this point, but I can’t tolerate the freezing any longer.

Thanks.
