strange virus or windows problem

my friend has a problem… when he switched on his laptop, then he writte a password and then starts lag, not possible to shut down pc and it’s doesn’t mater how long you wait, windows don’t start running, only one way to take out battery, then to start again…
and also when you want to shut down windows and it is written 'logging off…" on that moment again lag…

whats the problem can be?

It could be a virus if you ask me. Any chance it acts like this in safe mode?

When you can’t get to Safe Mode to try to fix it you can use Dr Web Live CD to remove viruses.

To use Dr Web download the ISO image and burn it to a CD. Then boot from the CD, run the program, update it and run the scanner. Let us know if you need help to boot from the CD.
