Anyone know how to keep programs from brightening up and saying “Not Responding”?

Low system resources might be a cause, what system resources do you have?

What 3rd party programs with start-up processes on your system?

Do you only have one real time anti-virus/anti-malware program?

Start>Run>(Type)msinfo32.exe>enter,
Under system summary you will have the amount of installed Memory(Ram) and available memory.
Under software environment, startup programs to show which programs are active.
I am not certain that I can help, but if you can get some info out there someone might be able to.
