SSL Certificate on WAN Connection

Hi

We have a point to point connection from our LAN to a client. The client want to send traffic to our webservice using SSL (even through the connection is secure).

Is it possible to purchase an SSL certificate for this web server on our LAN which doens’t face the internet?

My thinking is that we’d have to use our own Certificate service to create the SSL Cert, as the internal domain won’t be known to the outside world, and won’t be resolvable.

I need a set in concrete type of answer of what has to be done and why to placate the boss and client.

thanks

Dave

Hi,

Intranet SSL Certificates allow you to secure internal servers with SSL issued to either a Full Server Name or a Private IP Address. These Certificates are the most cost effective way of securing internal servers.
