If a novice user tries to add critical system files to ‘My Blocked Files’ list (e.g. explorer.exe and some absolutely necessary files in ‘Windows System Application’ group in D+), should D+ automatically not allow this option? (assuming D+ compared these critical files to the whitelist to make sure they were the real file).
It would prevent novices from accidentally adding these and locking themselves out of windows or worse.
Yeah we need this. Just 10 minutes ago I saw a post of someone wanting to block explorer.exe! Maybe this “Smarter” feature could extend over to the defense+ pop-ups too… so you can’t isolate an important windows file.
Yes
“Absolutly”, Expecially for Windows versions below Win 7, One of the main good functions in Win7 is the capability for administrative level members is to control which Apps/Processes can be used or changed by members in lower mode.
One of the main functions in Win7 is the sig/cert check function, if the file/App is disabled that belongs to MS-OS then it is not allowed to be disabled. Only services can be controled in the proper way. But other apps some times need to be limited and controled by Admin members.
So, in lower than Win7, the “My Blocked Files” list should be monitored by D+ or CIS in general and notify if there is a problem with Blocking or dis’ing any file that will corrupt the operation of your OS functionality.
But I believe this will be a larger mod in a later Beta design.
