Selecting paranoid HIPS freezes my laptop.

Hi, I don’t think this qualifies as a bug as such so I’m posting in the general Help thread.

I know I’m a minority but I quite miss the volume of warnings that previous versions of Defence+ used to give me… or I’d at least like the option to have such warnings when I feel like it.

So today I thought I’d try setting HIPS to “paranoid” to see what happens.

What happens is that as soon as I click “OK”, the first warning pops up and my laptop freezes, and then the only course of action is to use CTRL-ALT-DEL to restart, then set HIPS back to safe, and then restart again, as booting with HIPS set to paranoid means that most of my auto-runs fail as I can’t respond to pop ups.

I suspect, it’s just the volume of notifications that is causing this, because setting HIPS to paranoid but with “Do NOT show popup alerts” selected means that it runs fine. This however defeats the purpose of the exercise for me.

My laptop isn’t especially powerful - Acer TM5335 with x64 2.3 Intel and 2gig RAM running W7 - but I’d really expect it to be able to handle a few popups from Defence+.

Is this a known problem, and is there a solution?
