Secunia Personal Software Inspector (BETA)

Test the Secunia PSI (BETA) Technology Preview, an upcoming addition to the Secunia Software Inspector series, based on the proven Secunia File Signatures Technology.

The Secunia PSI detects installed software and categorises your software as either Insecure, End-of-Life, or Up-To-Date. Effectively enabling you to focus your attention on software installations where more secure versions are available from the vendors.

Greetz, Red.

What is great that they react to feedback. The changelog to the version before covers basically everything I wrote as feedback

The intention of the software is very good. I tried it when Rednose posted this, but it didn’t find anything obsolete (except for the 4.3 version of RegCleaner which is antique, but I knew that already), and I realized that I prefer to do all the work manually.

It does a very good job but still needs improvement.

One of things I noticed is that for IE7 and for netframework 1.1 the scan showed several (5-6) updates that were needed for each.
But when using Windows Updates or as now known Microsoft Updates, NO updates are found. Secunia is currently not taking into consideration if a later update might include several earlier updates.

But at least it has us looking!

Both the online scan and the PSI beta are updated. But it still does not recognize if patches are combined in a later release
