Does anyone else have a problem with the vertical scroll bar jumping
around when posting/editing text in the forums with Internet Explorer?
I find this happens when I enter a block of text, and the total height
of the text is several lines greater than the height of the editor window.
The vertical scroll bar jumps everytime I hit a key, making it nearly
impossible to edit existing text. I tried hitting the scroll lock key, but this
doesn’t seem to affect it at all. Dragging the scroll bar to the bottom of
its travel doesn’t work either. It just won’t sit still.
Interestingly, I am not having this problem if I post with Mozilla Firefox.
I had the same problem when I used IE and never found a way to solve it. Never encounter it with Comodo Dragon (my default browser for security and privacy reasons) nor with Opera.
Okay, it seems I’ve found a workaround. Apparently, this is a common
issue with Internet Explorer 8.
What you need to do is click on the “Compatibility View” button just
to the right of the address bar. This completely stops the scroll from
jumping around. I’m using IE 8 right now to compose this message,
and it’s working great!
Compatibility View is apparently used to view web pages that were
written for older browsers.
