Scan hangs during Initial Full Scan

Hi all,

I just discovered the whole range of products Comodo offers and I am pretty quite excited to try them out. I downloaded and installed Antivirus for Mac OS X and trying it out, but I’m having issues with the initial full scan.

The scan has been running for 5 hours or so and my entire system is closed to being locked up – I get the color spinning wheel, everything takes about 5-10 minutes to execute… The scan started off running really quickly: 480,000+ files in about 25 mintues. Then it got stuck at this one m4p file. The entire system became unresponsive (or really really really slow). The only thing is still working somewhat normal is the mouse cursor (it still moves smoothly when I move it around).

Stopping or pausing the scan via the app has no effect. Mac’s Force quit shortcut does not work either.

I did’t have any problem installing the software – it did hang for a little bit during update but it got out of it.

I’m using OS X Lion (10.7.2), could that be the cause of the issue?

I also have a couple other AV (Sophos and Intego Virus Barrier), as well as Little Snitch, installed, and may be those are causing problems too?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

only run one on access antivirus at a time. running more than one will cause issues

Thanks for the heads-up about running multiple on-access scans – I was hoping it wouldn’t be an issue since Sophos and Intego are running smoothly together… I turned off the on-access scans of the other AVs and even uninstalled and reinstalled Comodo… It’s still no good. The scan still hanged, and the machine froze with the spinning beach ball.

It’s either Comodo is not quite Lion compatible (after all, it doesn’t say it is on the download page), or it just doesn’t do well with all other AVs on the machines…

I was really hoping I could use Comodo along with my other AVs since it did catch something the other didn’t (or it could have been false alarm, but anyways…), but I guess I’ll have to pass at least for now…

Has anyone else run Comodo with other AVs successfully? Thoughts? Comments? Suggestions?

I am experiencing the same issue.

Running CAVM ver 1.1.214829.106
Lion 10.7.2 11C74
late-2009 iMac

Comodo runs very quick - up to 450K objects scanned in first 10 mins or so - then gets stuck and after 15-20 min of spinning rainbow ball quits with an error report regarding a time-out. And it is at a different spot every time - so I do not think it is a particular file causing this. System does become very unresponsive and slllloooooowwwwww.

I do not have any other AV products running.

Comodo crashes on a full scan on Mac OS X 10.9.2 (Mavericks). This problem has been reported since Jan 2014, why Comodo hasn’t fixed this yet?
