RtWLan.exe IGMP pop up

Hello,

I received a pop up on my firewall for RtWLan.exe requesting access to an IGMP protocol with the IP adress 239.255.255.250

I allowed the access since I consider my RtWLan as a safe application, but I dont recognise the IP adress. Is this IP safe?

If I remember correctly 239.255.255.250 is the multicast adress in ipv4, so perhaps you are sending IGMP packets so several hosts on the network? Though I am not completely sure so you might want to wait for someone more experienced with networks to reply.

It’s probably Simple Service Discovery Protocol (SSDP)… Windows Service… UPnP related and it’s usually nothing to worry about.

PS If the port number was 1900 UDP, then SSDP it is.
