As title states, never been detected before but today on 2 different Pcs on Different Networks get this in rating scan…
“Sectigo Public Code Signing Root R46”
Is there any reason this has just suddenly appeared on both my PCs out of the blue as untrusted, is it anything to worry about, i doubt it as the 2 Pcs are never on same network so i know its not from that.
Update, So i restored to a good image from 3 days ago, and did Rating Scan before updating Comodo and NO “Sectigo Public Code Signing Root R46” in there,
Then after updating Comodo and Rating scan again "Sectigo Public Code Signing Root R46 Untrusted appears, so its definitely Comodo throwing this up,
Trying to find out what caused this but no idea, had not opened any browsers etc…
Scans with Comodo and MalwareBytes totally clean. Am i being paranoid, should i just clean and be done?
So from the lack of responses on here i assume no one else has had this, while i have had it on 2 totally separate Pcs on 2 complete separate networks.
Thanks for reply mate, just had a browse through the post you linked and exactly what i have had today, Even restored and as soon as comodo updates i get the same one in the scan.
So can i stop worrying about it as i am always looking for problems that are not there on my PC.
Is it ok to just clean and be done with it, i have done scans and pc is fine with Comodo and MalwareBytes.
Had it on 2 PCS, But when trying on my laptop couldnt get it to show but version was different.
Just wanna move on now, been waiting for replies on here all day but god its so slow.
Thanks man.
Also, my laptop which does not have problem has VER WEB DATABASE 71329
2 pc with issue have 71352 / 71362 both have the Sectigo Public Code Signing Root R46
So if all machines are checked and updated why different versions on all 3.
I wonder if this is related to the revoked certificate issue from version 12.3.3.8140. The Comodo drivers from older versions stick around after an upgrade. If you’re not using that version anymore, you should be able to safely remove the drivers from that version.
The problem is that my friend @Buffdaddy123 he removed it, I also removed it, but even so this certificate always appears as the post I made above shows.
I’m going to have to interrogate your pronoun antecedent a little bit here. When you say you removed “it”, what, specifically, are you referring to? The driver or the certificate? You can remove the certificate with the driver still being installed.
Ah, alright, then. Refer to this post to see instructions on finding the driver for version 12.3.3.1840 and removal. Official Comodo Uninstaller v3.1.0.55 Released - #104 by EricCryptid
One command change I recommend is use this search command instead. Dism /online /Get-Drivers /Format:Table | find /I "Comodo" It will display only Comodo drivers. Carefully select the correct driver(s) when doing the removal.
There’s no need for that, what the friend above asked was something else, I think we’re not understanding what we’re talking about.
He only commented on why the certificate is appearing as unknown.
I told him that it always appears and that he could remove it.
Because this is a CIS problem.
As was said in the post I made more than 6 months ago.
I appreciate that when I suggest something to try and it’s already decided that it won’t make a difference so why bother even trying it. I’ll remember next time not to waste my own time because my suggestions will be discarded.
