With Windows 11 (and also its predecessor), there have been way too many apps and processes that demand internet access but work fine without allowing it. For instance, the most annoying at this point are OfficeClickToRun.exe/OfficeC2RClient.exe and ms-teamsupdate.exe. Unlike some others (such as e.g. SearchProtocolHost.exe, SDXHelper.exe etc.) which can be permanently blocked from accessing the internet, these two actually need access once a month (i.e. when I decide to go through the monthly updates). So, what would be the easiest way to configure it this way - in order to avoid several pop-up dialog boxes when they want access, but allowing it when you actually want that? That is, other than blocking it (with saved application rules for them), and then manually allowing it (i.e. removing their rules) once or twice a month, and then saving the blocking rules again.
I made suggestions quite some time ago pertaining to the flexibility of the rules, adding options to flush temporary rules, an option for “allow/block next N minutes” etc., but nothing has been changed in this regard. Don’t get me wrong - it’s a great product, but the Win10+ reality would require some of these UI/UX tweaks to make life “easier” again.
