Does comodo completely disable file sharing and neighbor browsing by default, just like ZA & Sygate ? couldn’t find the option …
Does comodo lack some inbound protection features ? (pleast be honest!) I don’t really care about outbound protection ; I’m gonna install comodo on a brand new laptop, and I know I’ll use it in many different public places (using Wi-fi, I’m gonna be very mobile), I just want the best incoming protection available.
Some people tend to say, every firewall available provide the same inbound protection, which means that Windows firewall would be powerful enough for my needs, is that true ?
Just tell me if in my situation, I should look for another firewall to fit my needs (freeware or software I don’t really mind).

Hi to everyone,
Here are my questions :
Does comodo completely disable file sharing and neighbor browsing by default, just like ZA & Sygate ? couldn’t find the option …

It does not disable file sharing, I’ve done it many times without Comodo blocking anything. Depending on the program you may have to configure either the program or Comodo Firewall. As for neighborhood browsing, I don’t know (if you mean neighborhood network?), I’ve never done it.
Comodo Firewall Pro seems to be the very best one out there, in terms of protection. In terms of usability, it suits me great, any many others. Those who encounters problems configuring it will get excellent help here at the forums, the moderators and others make a great job.
Try Comodo, that’s my tip for you. Welcome to the club!
Yeah I meant Neighborhood browsing, which can easily be disabled under ZA (using High protection settings with the slider) and Sygate.
I couldn’t find that option in Comodo, but maybe this is a basic feature activated by default, which doesn’t even need to appear in the configuration windows.
Well I knew about that already, the matousec’s test everyone is talking about, and I truly believe Comodo is one of the best, if not the best, firewall available in term of outbound protection.
But that doesn’t answer my question
Does comodo provide the best inbound protection available ? And a nice flexibility (as I said, I’m gonna be very mobile and connect to different local networks using wifi every day).
How does one define “best”? For incoming protection it might have something other firewalls (certainly not XP firewall) don’t : Security > Advanced > Advanced Attack Detection and Protection
There’s a bunch of options in there that controls something call Emergency Mode. In this state everything is blocked when CFP suspects your computer has been scanned by hackers for an x-specified duration. It also performs stateful packet inspection (SPI). Well, the rest you can read while in that screen.
You could always test your security here.
In my humble opinion the Windows Firewall is a better-than-nothing program. But not a lot better if you catch my drift
I also don’t know what you mean by that. The closest I suspect is to create trusted zones in CFP if you’re referring to networked computers in your area.
Edit: I moved your other thread here. For future reference please don’t post multiple threads in different boards on the same question. Thanks.
I think trusted zones is the one he was asking about. If you do not configure that everything involving the local area network would be configurable on demand.
