Problem with port 143 being blocked

I’m trying to connect to IMAP with a PHP email program in Internet Explorer, but the firewall is blocking port 143. I’ve tried everything I could find in the forums, but nothing seems to work. If I disable the firewall, everything works fine.

Even when I set the rule to ask for all ports, it never asks and it still blocks port 143.

What is the specific PHP Program you are trying to run, or is it just a web interface?
Is it a PHP Program or just a script?i.e. Popper, Squirrel Mail, Ex.
Can you post your logs?
The problem is probably with “Application Rules” but we need to see exactly what is being blocked

IMPORTANT: HOW TO WRITE HELP REQUESTS

Thanks Opus. Your reply was very helpful in guiding me to an answer. I found the problem.

I’m running a web interface that uses a PHP script to open an IMAP connection to read email.

When I looked at the logs this time, I found that the problem wasn’t IE as I had previously thought. It was Apache. I changed the setting for Apache to allow port 143 and now it works.

Thank you for your help.
