Problem installing Comodo Anti-Viruspyware (CAVS)

Hey,

I finally decided I would try the BETA and I’ve just tried to install it before but towards the end, the following error is displayed, yet the software still install’s??

I have Windows XP Home, if you wondering about the the Vista look, this is because I’m using a visual style.

Comodo Firewall Pro installed with no problems and I’ve not had any problems since.

Does anyone know what this means and how I can fix it so I can install this correctly?

Thanks.

Hi SD,

As on your screenshot I couldn’t find any error detailes (maybe the licence activation window is hiding it or I am blind :)) I have no idea. BTW are you using a cool theme for your XP or is it vista? As this version of CAVS does NOT support windows vista. You may try to reinstall it if something goes bad. During the install its advisable to turn off all of your security software.

Hey,

The error is above the License Activation window and I’m using a Windows Vista theme NOT Windows Vista.

Thanks.

I think you can uncheck the box and just click OK, no activation is needed. Did you chose Cancel, and uninstall CAVS? What about the message in the box behind: “During configuration some utility returned error”?

That’s optional.
You can click ok and the installation will continue.

Hey,

This is the error:

During configuration some utility returned error

NOT the License Activation window.

Thanks.

looks like something went wrong in the installation, how many times did you try it + are you using some other antiviruses ?

Hey,

I was using BitDefender 8 Free Edition but I removed that before I tried to install Comodo Anti-Viruspyware (CAVS). I tried installing it about 3 times and each time I got the same error.

G’day,

This is a really odd one. The error message you’re getting isn’t in the list of internal CAVS error codes. It’s possible the error message is being generated by the installer which would undoubtedly have its own error table. I’d be inclined to go to http://support.comodo.com, register (if you haven’t already done so) and lodge a support ticket on this (including the screenshot you posted here).

Please note that your forum login is different to your support cebntre login in.

When support come back with a response, can you please report the results here for the benefit of others.

Hope this helps,
Ewen

Hey,

I’ve done what you said, so I’ll keep you posted.

Thanks.
