PowerDVD 9 Conflict (Fix dont work anymore)

Comodo used to conflict with my PowerDVD 9 (Blu-Ray Disc Suite 7 OEM) so I had to disable buffer overflow and set “treat unknown files as”= partial. This fix worked. But now the problem is back, but not the same symptoms as before. Before the program needed to be run 2 times to start and crashed on the video settings tab and didnt play any dvd/bluray. Now PowerDVD starts directly but chrashes if I select settings and wont run any dvd/bluray. Ive added PowerDVD to all trusted lists etc Ive found in Comodo. I really like Comodo so some help would be nice. Thank you in advance.

Did you try giving PowerDVD 9 related files the Installer policy? Thsi method is described under point 5 of App. is not working correctly, but does not seem to be s/boxed. What to do? [v5].

Yes. I fixed my Photoshop CS3 issue with this method and tried it on PowerDVD aswell but with no luck.

Does is get sandboxed? Do PowerDVD executables show up in Unrecognised Files?

no

This looks like a bug to me. Please file a bug report in the Bug Reports - CIS board following the format as described in FORMAT & GUIDE - just COPY/PASTE it!.

could you show use your d+ logs?

How do I find the logs?
Ive googled for PowerDVD problems but cant find any new ones so I wonder wy mine is not working.

Ive been running Comodo with the buffer overflow settings off for a long time. I put the buffer overflow settings back once and everything worked and I ran the program like that until one day when I noticed this problem, then I turned the settings back as they were before but now it wont work.

The D+ logs are under Defense + → View Defense + Events.

I just made my PowerDVD crash and my logs are blank.

Please consider filing a bug report on this. That would greatly help Comodo.

If you can provide any additional details, it may help. i just installed PowerDVD9 and threw a few BR/DVD disks at it and I had no problems at all. I had D+ on paranoid, so there were a great may alerts, but it all worked.

What do you need? I dont know what to say. I run win 7 pro 64 bit. My PowerDVD9 is a oem version so maybe it isnt as updated as the newer PowerDVD9 versions are. The old issue I had was quite well known on the forums and with the fix everybody talked about I got it working but now PowerDVD crashes again

Radaghast, are you on 32 bits or 64 bits version of Windows? What Windows version are you on?

I had an x86 clean install, but I can re-image that with an x64 and see if it makes a difference. Give me 30 minutes.

What has changed on your system?

If it worked on Monday and stopped working on Tuesday, there must have been a change in either your system, the PowerDVD system or the Comodo application.

Any ideas of what changed?

Ewen

Ok, Windows 7 x64, CIS standard Install with firewall and D+, no changes otherwise. PowerDVD9 standard install. Tried a couple of BR/DVD (menu/chapter/play) no identifiable problems.

Downloaded a PDVD 9 here to my Win 7 x86 but it is not starting. After saying thank you I don’t want to register yet it simply does not start.

I added the complete installation folder to the BO exceptions and gave PDVD9 Installer/Updater policy but it didn’t help.

Looks like a bug to me. Currently using the v5.4 mod preview.

The only thing I know about is that I changed settings in Comodo as described earlier in the thread. Maybe some win7 updates also. Ive been thinking about PowerDVD beeing the bad guy but I havnt done anything with the program.

Does it start if you uncheck the buffer overflow option and set treat unknown files to partial?
