really like the program(ctm)but tried to uninstall and reformatt time.would not boot after uninstall.i have rollback on my other machine and i can uninstall without any problem.this needs to be fixed.im seeing alot of posts with pc’s being trashed and dont understand what is taking so long on a fix.this could be a great program just like rollback if you would only fix the issue.i appreciate the free program but this is unusable at the moment.

Before install CTM you can create copy of MBR, for explample with Linux LiveCD (Ubuntu) and TestDisk.

If that’s true, part of the CTM install process would be to make a copy of the MBR and include the ability to restore it.

I’m using CTM without problems - I’m so lucky O0.

This has been requested in the past and is on the devs list.

What’s the latest on this? Is CTM still a mess for many people?

Well I’ve tried, no change for me - complete disaster to the MBR.

Making changes to MBR is not really a big issue as long as they can safely be undone. Not only CTM makes changes to the MBR. What will happen if you install CTM and next you install an application which modifies the MBR too? It would not be a problem if they keep the boot order correct. But now you uninstal CTM and CTM restores the MBR as it was at installation time. Oops… your os might become unbootable again, cos the resored MBR is not aware of the second application, though that application might still have made other functionality changes within windows. If you want to know what kind of other programs do alter the MBR, well a lot of virus and mallware do. But also some virus scanners do to enable them to scan the bootrecords and bootfiles for viruses before the OS is booted.

Altering the MBR is not so bad at all as long as we know what we are doing and as long as we have a good tool to repair it. If you have a windows setup cd or windows RE cd, then BOOTREC /FIXMBR should be able to repair the MBR. No data will be lost. If your pc then still won’t boot, then it looks to me that some other tool did also change the MBR. BOOTREC isn’t aware of it too, so it will not be able to repair it. Then who should we blame? CTM for unable to rollback the change? Should we blame Microsoft for being unable to repair it with BOOTREC? Or should we blame the company which made that other software tool which you did install and which did change your MBR as well? Or should we just blame ourselves for installing software which makes low level changes to the boot sequence? I think we should blame ourself for not making a sector based backup now and then. We can’t use CTM and think it will make the backups by ourself so we don’t need to wait long time for sector based backup (which a lot of people find annoying). What if the head of your hard drive suddenly decides to make an emergency landing on your hard drive surface? All your data will be lost and CTM will sure not be able to recover it because the snapshots are on that drive too. Will we then blame CTM again for the lost data? Or should we blame ourself for being to lazy to make a sector based backup?
I sure would blame myself for being so lazy…

If it uninstalled, leave it off. Please read all of the posts in this forum relating to CTM trashing computers. If it’s off, leave it off.

Unfortunately, I had to Uninstall CTM, too.

Very often, I experienced BSOD when I reset the Baseline.
I ended up with a Black Screen and the mouse Flashing,
but the system couldn’t properly Boot and reach Windows Desktop.

Also, every time, I tried to unplug my Flash/USB Sticks,
the system could Not allow me!
It was always Busy!

I had to use the Windows Rescue CD (luckily I had prepared one before Disaster…)
Anyway, I reformatted my PC.

I believe that CTM needs to be more Stable.
It’s a New Product and need more time to be Developed.

Please, do Not abandon CTM! Improve it and improve it more!

Improvement isn’t the issue at hand, FIXING it is. Since there is very little feedback on the status of CTM these days, we’re left to assume it’s still not usable. :frowning:

Fixing (=Correcting Errors)…leads to Improving. ;D

-The issue is Not to Play with Words.
-The issue is that CTM needs Not to be abandoned.

“Improvement”
1 : the act or process of improving
2 a : the state of being improved; especially : enhanced value or excellence b : an instance of such improvement : something that enhances value or excellence.

“Fix”
To repair: restore by replacing a part or putting together what is torn or broken; “She repaired her TV set”; “Repair my CTM please”

“The act of putting something in working order”

I’m not “playing with words”. I see your point but to “improve” on something that in many cases isn’t functional isn’t what we want, we need it to WORK first.

Fix what’s broken before adding anything.

Some people ‘See the Tree and Lose the Forest’…

Some people know what the words that they use actually mean.

Some people are Nothing But Fancy Words…

CTM has ■■■■■■■ me over once, CTM has also ■■■■■■■ my friend over. Not a good impression to someone a first time user of comodo…

I am from a little town in Alabama. I am MANY things but I can assure you that I am NOT what you implied. I’m actually what you would probably call a “Good ole’ boy”. I do however know what the words that I use mean. Lighten up a little hoss.

Anyway, I do wish this wasn’t such a nightmare, I would really like to use this program. 88)

I figured it out…
