possible? Sandboxed browser opens non-sandboxed uTorrent?

Since i run Opera in a sandbox, uTorrent will also start sandboxed. Is there a way to prevent this?

You can start uTorrent before opening links in Opera, however I’m not sure you think that is a feasible solution.

Something you can try is to add uTorrent’s .exe to excluded files for the Sandbox, can’t promise that it will work though.

Well, the problem is, i´m opening magnet links through Opera, which are passed to uTorrent then. But i´ll try whitelisting uTorrent, thx.

No, the whitelisting didn´t help in this case. Is there a way to start the sandboxed Opera unsandboxed by any means? Temporarily?

Well as I said you can first open up utorrent unsandboxed and leave it open, then if you open a magnet link inside a sandboxed browser it will add this to the unsandboxed instance of utorrent, at least this has worked for me for some months now and it works with all browsers it seems like.

Thanks for your advice. Unfortunately, when i follow this steps, i get a message, that another instance of
uTorrent is already running & i should close it first. Is there a way to bypass the sandboxing temporarily?
That would be sufficient, since i don´t use uTorrent that often.

That depends on how you sandboxed opera in the first place since there are a few different ways of doing that which means a few different ways of temporarily disabling it.

If you are using the widget to start opera Sandboxed then close all sandboxed opera instances and then start opera through the start menu or from where it was installed.

If you created a shortcut that starts opera as sandboxed then close all sandboxed opera instances and then start opera with the start menu and not the shortcut.

If you added opera to always be sandboxed in CIS settings then you must temporarily remove opera from the list and then add it back when you are done, don’t forget to close all sandboxed opera instances.

If you need a more in-depth walkthrough of doing this then I can provide that once I know the way you’ve sandboxed Opera.

If you created a shortcut that starts opera as sandboxed then close all sandboxed opera instances and then start opera with the start menu and not the shortcut.

I´ve added Opera to the “always sandboxed” list, but i think i´m gonna change it to the shortcut version, so i can start it unsandboxed, when required (if the security gain is equal). Thanks for the advice. :-TU

I guess the difference is that if you create a shortcut instead of having it always sandbox, if you click a link in for example skype, it will open in unsandboxed opera.

I wish there was a way to always sandbox a program and then have a shortcut that opens it non-sandboxed. Can’t remember if I made a wish for this but I made a post about it at least, can’t remember if it ever got answered but I doubt it.
