Port 135 DCE endpoint resolution open

Hi there,

I have just done a scan with Superscan and it’s come back with Port 135 DCE endpoint resolution as open.

What is this for, how do i close it and why isn’t comodo protecting it?

How are you running the scan?

RPC/DCOM - TCP Port 135 - is a form of interprocess communication for applications running on the same machine and between applications running on different machines. The service is svchost hosted service and is a dependency for a significant number of services. For this reason it’s recommended you don’t attempt to disable this service. You can, however, create a rule for svchost that blocks communication to this port.
