Please tell us how Comodo Registry Cleaner helped you.

I am using Comodo Registry Cleaner version 1.0.17.23.

Hi
CSC is a great cleaner. I was looking on comodo comparison chart. I’m not sure exactly because other system cleaners have their own comparison charts, but i got a little worried when i saw the comparisons on which cleaner was the fastest or finds more registry entries then other system cleaners because if one system cleaner is trying to beat another system cleaner It will try and find more registry entries in the system to look more efficient. I may be wrong and CSC is just a great cleaner and thats all there is to it

I tried it and rejected it in favor of Auslogics Registry Cleaner. Auslogics does a very good job in it’s safe mode and in my opinion is a lot safer than CSC. I have also used Registry Mechanic which never caused any problems. Some people say that registry cleaners are the snake oil of the PC world meaning that they do little or nothing to improve performance but to me, they do keep things running smoother and faster. Some can be too aggressive and cause problems and CSC gave me the impression that it was one of those.

I need Your opinion.Right now i use Windows 7 manager>>>http://www.yamicsoft.com/windows7manager/index.html
It has mighty cleaner integrated.Well, I’m a big comodo fan and want to give a shot of the new CRC.What You think, which is better?

edit:Ups, sorry, wrong topic. Please, move my post to the right.

Yes, some cleaners will find and delete entries that just come back the next time you reboot the system. It makes them look good and gives you the impression that they’re doing a better job. If that’s the only extras they detect, it’s not dangerous, but if they get too aggressive and start showing things that aren’t safe to remove, then you have problems.

AM pretty happy with system cleaner, however my prevx reports that

csc.exe is really lop.com and has infected my system.

Can you pse explain what this is all about? I am bamboozled.

thanks

follow up to my last post. Here is what prevx says in their own words.

It is definitely a false positive.
Please report this to PrevX.

Cheers,

I just sent this message to Prevx to try to clarify things.

registry cleaner on the forum everyone says it’s great. Used it once and my system locked up. Had a very hard time getting back up. Removed cleaner and have not had a problem since. If program is so good then tell me why my system messed up after installation.

Hello,

We had this kind of problems with previous versions of COMODO System-Cleaner. This problems should be fixed in the new version (2.2.126408.3). Please tell us what version did you used when you had this problems. If the problem also appears in the current version we like to know about it so we can fix it.

Also tell us if you have any special software installed like antivirus, anti spyware, firewall.

We really appreciate the help of all the COMODO forum users.
With your help we’ll make improvements to our products release by release.

WinXP SP2
3 gigs of Ram
Comodo Firewall 3.13.126709.581
Comodo System Cleaner (whatever the current version is… I’ve uninstalled it permanently)
Eset NOD32 4.0.437.0 (btw, it’s a clean system. No virus’s or malware, etc)

Today was the first time I installed (current version on Comodo’s site) and used this System Cleaner product and I gotta say… I’ve seen a lot of bug ridden software in my days, but this was by far the buggiest as one could imagine, and I’m still scratching my head why Comodo could release this to the public. :-\ The issues I had are like many I’ve seen posted here.

The first thing I did was run the registry cleaner. It found something like 300+ invalid entries. I did not elect to let it clean/fix anything at that time. The first thing I noticed was how the interface got funky (desktop icons bleeding through, missing text, etc) and that alone prompted me to NOT rely on the registry backup feature included, and ended up backing up the registry myself before continuing with the “cleaning”. After the cleaning, I rebooted as instructed.

All seemed ok for a while, then the issues started. My PC randomly rebooted TWICE in a 50 minute time period. At first I thought it was a fluke of sorts because I couldn’t remotely imagine it was the System Cleaner product based on Comodo’s reputation.

No more random reboots after that but I did notice much much slower performance. Then I thought I’d try the find duplicate files “feature”. That produced a domino effect of garbage! Error windows popping up saying there’s not enough resources to continue this operation, that operation, blah blah. I lost mouse operation after clicking OK on all the window error messages. Tried shutting down with keyboard strokes, and ended up having to just shut the power down because everything was totally hung up. I rebooted once more and thought to check how much memory was being used after bootup. 1.6 GIGS! At that point I concluded this software really wasn’t worth the 1.5 hrs lost in my life I had just experienced and uninstalled, and all is well. Good luck.

Have enjoyed the firewall so gave the Sys.cleaner a try and it worked as advertised. I had years of junk in the registry and maybe hundreds of entries left from a poker and casino games program that had no effective uninstall. I gained speed and had no problems at all. Very pleased as I have tried cleaners before (different brands) and ALWAYS had big problems like no sound, etc. For me this worked fine.

I have been meaning to post here as well. This is the only registry cleaner that fixed the 3 error popups that I had on startup. CCleaner ■■■■■■■ everything up but this one seems to have worked. I’m always leery of this sort of software but this seems to have done the trick :). Any chance of Defrag etc. making it’s way onto the program?

I usually use CCleaner, as I have heard a lot more “no success” or “computer not working” stories with CSC’s registry cleaner… :stuck_out_tongue:

Really? Now that I think about it I guess you’re right, I’ve heard that CSC is pretty aggressive but CCleaner reall did a trick on my system, after I rebooted it took about 5 seconds for me to hit system restore 88). CSC apparently hasn’t hurt anything…yet. :-X

the last time i used a reg cleaner/defrager my system died and would not even boot…so i stay away from them.

i have asked on many many many forums about reg cleaners and all i get is cut and pasted garbage the developers spoon feed people saying how “its essential/vital/critical/ect” do clean the registry. no one talks about the fact that reg cleaners can and probably will one day mess something up pretty badly. I am no expert on this subject but when i get no real data and nothing but spoon feed dribble from the sheeple who swear by them i get leary.

Im not bashing CRC or calling the people who use it sheeple, but some people only listen to what the developers tell them (ie: buy my product or your computer will 'splode) and quote it as Gospel without any form of intelligence or knowledge.

I had an item on the context menu that’s being left when I uninstalled the horrible winPatrol " plz don’t install this software ever " ,

it’s been for a while , CCleaner didn’t remove it , I couldn’t do that manually either !

but guess what after I ran a scan with CSC it disappeared , so problem solved and I’m happy again

Also , I found out that what’s so called TuneUp is really useless in terms of registry cleaning ! so I uninstalled it right away

It’s hard to believe anyone’s computer runs at all. CSC cleans and cleans and cleans. I just had one problem with build 53.

The double named updater dll was somehow wiped from my computer. I searched for a long time and posted here. The closest I came was get it from your manufacturer.

There is very little information on it out there. I missed CSC so much I had to start from scratch. No problems since then.

I have 26,000 items that CSC won’t remove from the last Windows update a few days ago? They are temporary files.

Otherwise, I thank you again for the products you’ve put out and it’s hard to believe that Matousec had to come up with more viruses, malware and trojans to try and break CIS.

Comodo products have made my computer experience more reliable while greatly reducing down time.

Thank you.

The amount of garbage that would have accumulated by now is astounding. It’s no wonder I could never keep a computer running for any length of time. Thank you Comodo, staff and all of you.

I was extremely proud of Comodo getting the award this year. I looked at Matousec yesterday and it looks like everyone has all but given up.

The products I use to spend the most money on are at the bottom do not use list. One competitor can not compete because of some sort of affiliation with the company and there sits Comodo at the top with no excuses.

It took a bit of time to find the right settings for me but I did and it has not disabled my computer even once. I use full clean and aggressive settings, however that is for me, maybe not for you. So be careful and come to the forums. Lots of good stuff here.

Thank you.
