Hi Guys.
First, Before you try this, Make sure…
- You do NOT have any other Anti-Virus running real time!
- You’re Firewall is NOT blocking any part of the Anti-Virus, Please give CIS full access rights.
- You do NOT Import ANY kind of Configuration in Comodo Internet Security/AntiVirus. This needs to be done in on a clean machine, With rules built from scratch.
- any other possible security software is not conflicting
- Vista users, Turn of UAC (User Account Control) And if you have Comodo Firewall or any other Firewall, turn of Windows Firewall.
After searching the forum, I found a possible solution to help you guys get the latest updates. Ever since Comodo Internet Security 3.5 RC2 was out, It had different update paths and registry keys compared to CIS now. 2 things were changed:
- Path to Antivirus updates was changed.
- Released updates were not compatible with RC2
First, Please download and install Revo Uninstaller. Uninstall Comodo Internet Security using this program, and reboot, Do not Export your old configuration, This needs to be a completely fresh install to make sure the updates work.
Next, download, install and run Comodo Registry Cleaner. Remove any left over registry entries found, and reboot. Now go to Comodo Internet Security website, to download the latest .439 build selecting whether you’re Operating System is 32 or 64 bit. Download and install CIS, and off course reboot.
Finally, now this is an important step. Close Comodo Internet Security by right clicking the CIS system tray icon and choosing “Exit”. Now, Go to Start>Run> type regedit to open the Registry Editor. Navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\Software\Comodo\Firewall Pro\Configurations\0\AV\Settings
This is what the old registry key looks like when a person export an RC2 Configuration, or still has that old key on there system after a uninstall, etc… So therefore, updates do fail.

This is what it should look like so AV updates do work:

Anyway, bottom like is:
UpdatePath has to be av/updates
UpdateURL has to be http://download.comodo.com/
2 Things to remember when importing stuff here.
If you import AS under a new different policy name you will end up having a [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\Software\Comodo\Firewall Pro\Configurations4 profile, so you have to check that also.
If you want to change registry settings for CIS make sure you close it before changing otherwise the changes will be overwritten when rebooting or shutting down your PC/CIS.
The follow Registry Entries MIGHT also have to be changed/checked:

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\Software\Comodo\Firewall Pro\Configurations\0\AV\Settings]
“UpdateURL”=“http://download.comodo.com/”
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\Software\Comodo\Firewall Pro\Configurations\1\AV\Settings]
“UpdateURL”=“http://download.comodo.com/”
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\Software\Comodo\Firewall Pro\Configurations\2\AV\Settings]
“UpdateURL”=“http://download.comodo.com/”
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\Software\Comodo\Firewall Pro\Configurations\3\AV\Settings]
“UpdateURL”=“http://download.comodo.com/”
Reboot one more time to make sure the Registry Changes take effect. Remember to not import any configuration, leave CIS alone untill ALL this is done. Now try checking for updates (and making sure you have no conflicting security software installed). Please also check the Firewall and make sure it does not block cmdagent.exe or TCP connections via 80 port, And Internet Explorer doesn’t have any “fancy” proxy stuff going on.
This info was gathered from posts on the forums. Please follow all steps carefully, and make sure your Internet is off course on! If you’re still having AV update issues, post full system details here as developers are still working hard to figure out the issue, As not everyone has this problem (including my self).
Cheers,
Josh
