Did you have to trick it by masking as IE or something? Never mind 88). I don’t know why I even ask since I don’t use Gmail
if I allow cookies globally (this sucks) I can connect without issues and always to the default frontend.
Actually it always use the ajax frontend eve if I switch to the base html mode and logoff/logon again
Still the old Gmail here. :-\
Anyway, back on Opera 9.50 now, though I have gained nothing since I threw it out (except that the profile folder has been moved and my user profile is smaller :-TU).
LA
I have no errors unless right-click in that spot

So you get the player but you can’t listen? What a teaser.
Translation now works! :BNC
Seems like reinstalling Opera have made at least two things better. :-TU
LA
And it’s fake teaser because I removed WMP 6.4!
I bet it was the standard installer that messed you up to begin with
http://209.85.48.10/html/emoticons/blink.gif
That’s not an advantageous bet since I’ve never laid hands on anything else than the classic installer. I removed the DCOM service before the first time I tried Opera 9.50.

Oh yeah I forgot :-[ Dunno. Do vendors ever secretly update their setup files on their official download site over-time? :-X
Maybe they do, but I installed from the very same file as previously. I’ve only downloaded the Opera classic installer once.
Never mind, the Opera installation is fresh, and it works well except for weather forecast issues, Windows Media issues, Gmail issues, and minor/major issues at four other sites I visit frequently. 88)
LA
Do I detect a note of sarcastic frustration? ;D So the weather is still not working for you? The files from my plugin folder might not be enough. I usually clean uninstall and install new versions of Adobe Flash Player.
I found out a nasty bug related to gmail access, cookies and site preferences.
My cookies settings are :
Allow cookies only from sites I visit
Delete new cookies on exit
I used site preferences to override and allow cookies on all sites and preserve them on exit with:
If I fill the log infos without marking to remember on mail.google.com I cannot access GMAIL
If I fill the log infos marking to remember on mail.google.com I cannot access GMAIL but if I quit opera leaving that tab open next time I run Opera I access directly gmail ???
Usually after I fill the login info I get pushed back on th same page again with login an password field blank.
If I logoff the same issue goes again.
Frustration it is, my friend. :-X To ease the pain I try to blame the websites rather than Opera. I believe that makes sense.
I haven’t reinstalled Adobe Flash Player since this carousel began, maybe it’s worth trying. I just hope it doesn’t use .msi because then I’ll lose Flash support forever (or at least until I reinstall Windows).
What I did reinstall, however, was Windows Media Lite. This time I checked all options except some extra audio support. Now I encounter the exact problem as you do, at www.sr.se . Well, a frozen player is better than no player, right?
gibran, what have you done to access Gmail 2? Did you follow the nobrowsercheck link I provided earlier or is it something new? You may remember that I also accessed Gmail 2 from that link, but the GUI was not very smooth, and the contacts list wasn’t correctly displayed.
LA
You did know that the tool I uploaded in the kill your XP thread can also install services, not just kill them? :-X
You could always revert to 9.27 and it’ll work, but that’s no fun.
I can access gmail if I allow cookies for all sites (it says gmail beta) the ajax frontend load fine staring from mail.google.com
I have no contact in my CL so I cannot test if it got some issue but the DHTML works fine.
The issue is that my defaults are different so I use Site preferences to override I cannot login normally.
I have at least close that tab and load mail.google again and I can login If I previously confirmed that gmail had to save my password.
Yeah, but it still requires access to the DCOM Server Process Launcher file, which I don’t have.
+1 for no fun. Have you considered it? I’ve seen upset posts at the Opera forum from users who decided to revert to 9.27 (for many reasons I guess).
Translation stopped working again, but this time I have a clue why: in C:\Program Files\Opera\search.ini I removed every search engine except the first one (Google). Maybe the translation was included in the others? What do you think? (maybe you can check the file)
OK. Not much to do then, I guess. :-\
LA
Reinstalled Flash. On the up side; the stand alone installer copied (Soya’s) files to the Opera plugin folder. On the down side; still no weather. On the other hand, the weather problem seems to be something else than strictly Flash related. Flash still works as expected on other sites.
LA
Do you have anything blocked in your urlfilter.ini file?
Close Opera. Move your profile folder to your desktop as a back. Open Opera and try that site again. If still no progress then close Opera, delete the new Profile folder, restore the original Profile folder from the desktop.
Excellent idea, I just tried it. Unfortunately though, there was no difference. And let’s not forget that it didn’t work in Firefox either. :-\
Thank you, I’ve taken enough of your time to solve this, maybe we’d better wait for a Windows reinstallation and then see what happens.

If you removed the search engines by editing the file directly, this happened very likely
The search engines, which URLs start with “http://redir.opera.com/transl.ation/” are the ones invoked by the translation menu.
But they aren’t displayed at all in the dialog for editing search engines in opera…
Thanks for checking. I was editing the file directly.
This confirms that editing C:\Program Files\Opera\search.ini too much will ruin the translate linking.
Hey, I got an email from the weather guys, who told me that their application not yet supports Flash Player 10 beta. Unless you guys have v 10 beta as well, we have solved the mystery!
LA
EDIT: as expected, Flash now works great since I downgraded (or, as it seems, upgraded) from v 10 beta to v 9. :BNC
Opera, my dear friend. (:LOV)
