A. Nvidia drivers fail to install with Comodo Firewall running Can you reproduce the problem & if so how reliably?:
Yes, drivers failed to install repeatedly, exited comodo as a last ditch troubleshooting effort, and install went successfully If you can, exact steps to reproduce. If not, exactly what you did & what happened:
1:Have comodo installed
2:Run gfx nvidia installer 355.82 for win7 x64 One or two sentences explaining what actually happened:
Nvidia Driver setup exits saying driver failed to install One or two sentences explaining what you expected to happen:
Install to complete successfully If a software compatibility problem have you tried the advice to make programs work with CIS?:
? Any software except CIS/OS involved? If so - name, & exact version:
No, after each failed driver install attempt, a reboot was required before the driver would try to install again Any other information, eg your guess at the cause, how you tried to fix it etc:
Well I’m not saying it is a comodo issue. After attempting to troubleshoot the driver install, as a last ditch effort exited comodo and the install worked where it failed to install so many times before.
here is the nvidia driver install log

Problems with NVIDIA driver installs are not uncommon. To get the cleanest possible install try the following:
Download whatever driver you want to use.
Next, go to Windows update and set it to ‘check for updates but let me decide what to install’ that will keep windows from automatically installing it’s video driver.
Next go to C:/Nvidia, open the folder and you should see a folder named Display driver. Inside that folder you should see a folder for every driver you have ever installed. They will be names 320.49 and such. Delete every one of those folders, but do not delete the display driver folder, just the ones inside.
Next go to control panel > uninstall programs. Uninstall all of the Nvidia display programs, but this is important, uninstall the display driver last. Uninstall the Nvidia update, Phys X, 3D drivers (few people use them), Nvidia HDMI, and the Nvidia update (it does not work anyway). Last uninstall the display driver. You will be told to reboot, do so.
When you log back on, windows will install a display adaptor, that is OK. Open your driver that you have downloaded from Nvidia, agree to terms, do not select express install, select custom install. Make sure the ‘clean install’ check box is selected and uncheck everything except the display driver and PhysX, then install. You will have to reboot after that.
That will be the cleanest install you can get, and you will not have the HDMI driver to conflict with the Realtek drivers, but should have all the drivers you need. You can then set windows update back to whatever you like.

Hm… I did experience some (minor) Nvidia driver conflicts with specific applications but not this one. That’s why I was requesting additional information.
Same problem as the OP.
This is the log of the Nvidia install program. It is not a problem of install the driver itself but apparently to install the control panel.

Disabling all the live services of Comodo and exiting the app by also killing the process let the installation works and correctly finish.
Same here, wasted hours figuring out what it was.
(Exiting Comodo tray app helped for me, thx banana55 and others for bringing my Google-Foo over here)
This has been driving me crazy, each Nvidia driver update would fail and would have to clean up in safe mode and clean install there to get around it (in hindsight safemode disabled the firewall). Wasn’t until yesterday I finally stumbled on folks mentioning Comodo firewall as the culprit in the comments at the bottom of this article number one google hit for “Nvidia video driver install fails” 2 Methods to Fix “NVIDIA Installer Failed” for GeForce video cards
I had disabled the firewall for 30 mins during Nvidia driver install but not completely closed Comodo down and that ends up being the secret to my broken Nvidia updates all fall long. I only use the the Comodo firewall no HIPS no Virus scope or AV…
Now if I could get the hours of my life back running in circles cleaning and attempting to install video drivers. Once I completely close Comodo Nvidia video drivers install without a hitch, easy once one knows how. Hope wherever the fault lies it can get solved.
Is Viruscope, HIPS utilized? What exactly interferes? What’s being disabled?
Also, without example of installer and a video with steps, it’s kind of hard to guess.
Wait… you want to tell me that all those fails was Defense+??? I have those fails from 2 months ago and I didn’t think for a second that this is Defense+ because I only enable Firewall and Anti-virus. How the Defense+ fail the updates if its disabled?
Have been struggling with nvidia the past 3 months, that always failed to install the normal easy way. Disabling “Enable file source tracking” did the trick.
From nvidia forum, it was told a common cause to failed install is due something injects itself into every running process. So that is linked to CIS and Defense+ somehow in my case.
