Non-existant registry entry

I’ve just started using the free CIS and have set the scanner to check for rootkit malware. It complained about the following;
Rootkit.HiddenValue@0 HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run\AVG7_Run

The software cannot seem to do anything about this problem, so I tried to delete the entry from the registry, manually. Unfortunately, there is no such entry in the place indicated and a search of “AVG7_Run” in the entire registry found nothing.
I ran a Gmer scan for rootkit/malware and that found nothing relating to the above. Any help would be appreciated.

Seem like you may still have AVG entries,

have you tried running AVG Removal Tool

Thanks for the reply. I downloaded and ran the AVG removal tool. I also went back into the registry and cleaned out anything with AVG which appeared it might belong to that program - there were some Legacy items. The entry Comodo is complaining about still does not exist in that registry area and now there are no AVG items at all in the registry… A new scan produces the same result as before. Can registry entries be made invisible to regedit?

I’ve Moved Your Post To FP Reporting Board

Thanks
