New Version 12.3.4.8162 Available for Comodo Internet Security 2025

Dear C.O.M.O.D.O_RT, unfortunately it does not install or update the av database.

Hi nik.luckin,

Could you please share us the screenshot ?

Thanks
C.O.M.O.D.O RT

@EricCryptid had noticed that as well. He reported in the mod board about it. The problem had solved its self. It apparently was only temporary.

Comodo is dead

Comodo is unable to connect to the internet during a signature update. I’ve changed the DNS settings and set them to automatic, but nothing helps. I restarted the PC the next day, but the update didn’t work, whereas it had worked before – always without problems.

Message: Content encoding failed.

It’s a current issue with the server which the devs are fixing.

You’re still 100% protected as Containment will contain/sandbox any unknowns and their processes anyway.

The problem is fixed.

Thanks for the quick information.

Can someone tell me what happens when CIS Pro expires? Does it stop working or does it keep on working?

It’s so weird how CIS Premium now only seems to exist on this forum and all the countless Comodo webpages only seem to serve CIS Pro now which is so confusing to send new users to download on some forum instead of a webpage…

CIS Pro when the trial expires, it will show a pop-up to continue with the free version (Premium). If you’re just using a trial of Pro, it’ll be simpler to simply download the Premium version (free) from the first post in this topic. The main features are the same, just doesn’t include Live Live PC Virus Removal / Support and the virus guarantee. It still protects you just as well as no security features are missing in the free version.

The website being disorganised and confusing has already been raised with the devs.

Dragon is dead, or is Dragon dead? Seems so. I’ve sometimes gotten the message from websites: Unsafe. You are using an outdated browser. Update it or use a different one.

Turns out that’s not true. It has a permanent yellow warning icon and keeps bitching about it with no way to tell it to just work in “free” mode. Annoying they are pushing it this way.

I think a few people reported the same some years back when Pro came out. Export your configuration and then do a fresh install. Just remember to import your configuration before re-starting after the fresh install of the premium (Free) version.

Yeah, I’ve reinstalled Premium. It’s stupid that they are doing this, I’d recommend CIS way more to people if it wasn’t an obscure forum post download link instead of proper webpage like all other Free AV’s have. Just offer CIS Pro and show its perks and if people still want free version, let them download it that way. I don’t get it.

Comodo has done a terrible job with the overhaul of the website to its current state. :expressionless:

Something positive: When I opened a virtual drive I had created with Steganos Safe, I could access it not only in SecurityShopping. Now I’ve switched to VeraCrypt, and this drive doesn’t appear in the main window, only in CSS. A gain in security.

In terms of File Rating and Cloud Analysis Xcitium/Comodo is good at it and in terms of isolating unknown files

Unfortunately, that’s not correct; I made a mistake!

Nothing about HIPS in that video from what I can see, so the issue that was posited against comodo is that the sandbox feature and the default of trusting certificates (like so many do, unfortunately) would allow a dll dropin execute on a “trusted” MS binary that suddenly runs from the wrong path (which I suppose should be flagged).

DLL Dropping is a feature, not a bug. It can be used for good, or bad.

CIS only trusts certificates of companies that have been vetted by Comodo.

That would make an interesting hardening.

The Xcitium client, CIS professional brother, keeps an eye on loading of .dll files and it would with default settings not allow loading of unsigned .dll files by allowed applications. That caused too many false positives because lots of legit applications will load their own unsigned .dll files. Hence the default in Xcitium was changed.

Decimatech unearthed an old comment from egemen (the original developer of CIS) commenting on dll loading:
