New Netbook

Hi guys, I got a new netbook an I was wondering about putting cis5 on it, will my netbook be able to handle it ok any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

CIS tends to be very light on resources; so should work well on a netbook. The heaviest task is the av updating; but since this is a new netbook I think it will work fine.

What hardware is in that netbook? Processor, HD and RAM?

The 1201N’s dual-core Intel Atom processor, NVIDIA Ion graphics, Windows 7 Home Premium, and 2GB of RAm 250gbharddrive

That should be more than enough.

Thanks Eric, It works fine on my new desktop, so I am going to try it out on my new netbook…

i install version 4 in my lenovo s10-2 netbook with 1gb of ram. CIS4 operate on idle at 3-5mb. Really light considering that CIS4 is a full internet security suit which include antivirus, antispyware, firewall, HIPS, memory firewall, and sandbox.

You see only CFP.EXE process that really takes only 4 mb on my computer. You should press “show process from all users” button to see another process cmdagent.exe that takes another 4-10 mb idling in my system. But still i agree that 8-14 mb is very light on memory for what cis suggests

Unfortunately CIS isn’t light at all. avast! 5 worked far better on my netbook. And not many netbooks have fast drives like my Seagate Momentus 7200.4 500GB. So on slow 5400RPM drive you can expect even more lagging. Unfortunately. It seems like Stateful scanning isn’t working exactly efficient. At least not compared to avast! caching feature… If you don’t mind quite longer loading times of everything, it’s fine actually.
I think the problem with CIS is that all stateful info is lost after system reboot/shutdown. Where avast! stores certain data even through reboots.

Where is this option on CIS settings?

It’s under on-access scanner settings. It’s enabled by default anyway. There are 3 settings for real-time scanner. Off - Stateful - On-Acess

speaking of netbooks i was trying to put cis 4 on my friends netbook with windows 7 starter and i kept getting a message saying that comodo didnt support windows 7 starter?
