My hijack log (Vista)

It’s been a long time since I visited the forums and looks like I’ve missed alot of info.

Heres my log for my laptop running vista and for some reason it has been a little slow lately.

Sorry that I have to copy paste the log cause for some reason I can’t save it as .txt since the forums won’t accept .log files.

Logfile of Trend Micro HijackThis v2.0.2

With the disclaimer that I don’t have any direct experience with Vista machines, from what I can tell, your HJT log is clean.

A google search tells me that C:\Windows\servicing\TrustedInstaller.exe is something of a resource hog, so that may be related to any sluggishness that you’re seeing.

Your Adobe reader is out of date. There is at least one security update that you need to get installed.

And, your Quicktime version may be out of date also. Best check that also.

If you want to run a somewhat more comprehensive scan, I’ll suggest Deckard’s System Scanner, available for download from http://www.techsupportforum.com/sectools/Deckard/dss.exe

Thanks! Is there anyway to remove the trustinstaller thing?

What does the DSS do in the most simplest way?

So any vista users who can check out my log? (:WIN)

Had you install something before you did the logfile as TrustedInstaller should only be running when you install,(windows update etc.) is the only time that I get alerts for TrustedInstaller from CPF3.
Dennis
Edit Checked TrustedInstaller is Windows Modules Installer in Services is set to manual on my comp. should only run for Windows Update install uninstall only.

That’s a lot of processes, if you have no visuses but your computer is still slow, you could uninstall some programs you don’t need. Just go to the control panel > add/remove programs and take a look.

Also, how much RAM do you have? Do you notice much hard disc usage? And chances are that defragmenting would do some good if you haven’t done recently.

DSS is like HiJackThis. It will run a HJT scan, and check some other things also. It will sometimes uncover things lurking in the background that HJT doesn’t see.
